Position Overview

SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)

Transports a variety of materials from one location to another. Ensures that the courier function is fully integrated into and supports department operations. Ensures that courier vehicle is properly maintained.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:Five years of work experience. Must be at least eighteen years of age.

Other Credentials:Drivers License

Knowledge and Skills:

Special Training:AHA Heartsaver or equivalency.

Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities:

Does this position formally supervise employees? No

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Picks up and delivers mail, specimens, supplies, reports, etc. following established schedules and guidelines. Responds to ad hoc requests from department staff for additional stops.
  • Handles materials appropriately in accordance with Organization policies and all applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Correctly sorts and delivers materials to departments and recipients at each location.
  • Maintains logs and documentation for all deliveries and obtains all required signatures.
  • Maintains regular communication with supervisor and staff, responding promptly to calls and radio messages.
  • Monitors demand for courier services and reports need for changes in routing and schedules.
  • Serves as liaison, carrying messages to and from client offices.
  • Identifies and communicates to supervisor possible improvements in schedules, services, processes and procedures.
  • Maintains neatness and cleanliness of vehicle(s).
  • Monitors and reports need for repair or maintenance.
  • Maintains mileage and service logs.
  • As needed, transports patients, employees, visitors, and property to appropriated locations in a safe and organized manner. Assists passengers on and off the vehicle as required to ensure safe entering and exiting of the vehicle and uses supplied step-stool as required. Assures that all passengers use a seatbelt.
