Who Am I?
I am a team-oriented senior employee with 40 years of experience in the integrated steel industry. I believe in building a team that can provide a solid foundation of technology, skills and services. We are presently managing over $50M in Capital projects across (3) major facilities and always working to provide support for all plant facility's needs. Our day-to-day workload is heavy and requires our entire team to support and manage to deliver expectations to our customers on-time and on-budget.
What Do We Do?
Business Unit: Global Advanced Engineering (GAE)
GAE is the corporate engineering support team for Carpenter Technology. We provide project management and technical support services for the corporation. GAE consists of 30+ engineers and additional management and are located at the Reading facility.
Ongoing Projects
GAE is responsible for a $125M capital budget for FY2026 with projects throughout the corporation. GAE is also managing a major expansion project in the Athen Alabama facility and responsible for capital spending forecasting and fiscal year capital planning.
Your Role as an Intern

Pay Range
Hourly rates are based on: 1 – Program of study; 2 – Degree type (i.e., Bachelor’s); 3 – Progression in degree (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, etc.). The range for this position is $21.00 – $25.00 per hour.
Commuting/Housing Assistance (If Eligible)
Interns who must commute to work from outside the immediate Reading, PA area (over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $2,400 (less applicable taxes) as excessive commute allowance. Interns who choose to temporarily relocate from outside the immediate Reading, PA area (moving over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $4,800 (less applicable taxes) as a housing allowance. If applicable, this payment would be made during the first payroll cycle, which would be three or four weeks following the internship start date.
