Job Summary

The Distribution Specialist is responsible for accurately and timely fulfillment of customer’s orders from the Memorial Hermann Consolidated Service Center (CSC) to our acute care hospitals and other entities. The Specialist is responsible for several functions including: operating material handling equipment, radio frequency (RF) units, ring scanners, voice picking units and utilizing our warehouse management system (WMS) to pick orders. Automatous robots (AMRs) will be used throughout the CSC to pick orders from low unit of measure (LUM) areas. Position works with various departments within the CSC such as Customer Service, Logistics and Transportation to follow up and resolve customer order shipment issues. The Distribution Specialist typically reports to the Order Fulfillment Manager.

Job Description

Hours and Shift:

This position will be a full time evening shift, working four 10 hour shifts:

  • Mon & Thurs - 2pm to Finish

  • Fri & Sat - 10:00am - 8:30pm

Desired Skill Set:

  • Seeking candidates with cherry picker and forklift experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education:  High School diploma or GED preferred
Licenses/Certifications: Material Handling Equipment (MHE) certification preferred   

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • One (1) year of order fulfillment experience required

  • Prior experience successfully operating and maintaining forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and other electric material handling equipment

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accurately picks customer orders utilizing warehouse management system (WMS), robotics, and/or Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to complete multiple orders.

  • Sorts totes and cases of cardboard boxes or shipping containers by scanning, retrieving and placing orders on pallets.

  • Utilizes MHE to move all outbound customer orders to the shipping dock area.

  • Performs order induction activities for the low unit of measure (LUM) robotic picking activities. 

  • Resolves any order errors prior to shipment.

  • Prepares, shrink wraps, and loads pallets onto delivery trucks for shipment.

  • May be required to work overtime and/or weekends.

  • Enforces and practices safety rules to maintain a safe working environment.
