The VMO is a data and services-driven organization, designed to serve as the central orchestrator across IT Towers, Procurement, and Finance. We are a strategic, insight-driven hub that enables proactive advancement of our vendor ecosystem.

As a senior technical leader within the Technology Vendor Management Office (VMO)—a key function of the Information Security & Technical Solutions organization—this role is responsible for driving the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of sophisticated digital solutions that enhance vendor management capabilities.
The position demands deep technical expertise in application architecture, with a strong emphasis on automation and artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline and optimize the contract lifecycle process. The role involves architecting scalable platforms that intelligently manage contract scopes, obligations, and compliance requirements, while ensuring robust role-based access controls to support secure, team-specific visibility into contract data.
This leader collaborates cross-functionally with stakeholders across engineering, security, procurement, and legal to shape the technical strategy and innovation roadmap for VMO initiatives. The ideal candidate brings a forward-thinking mindset, a passion for emerging technologies, and a proven ability to translate complex business needs into impactful digital solutions.

This leader leads the design, development, and implementation of advanced digital solutions within the Technology Vendor Management Office (VMO), part of the Information Security & Technical Solutions organization. This role applies deep technical expertise to architect applications, with a strong focus on automation and artificial intelligence (AI). Collaborates across functions to drive innovation and shape the technical direction of VMO initiatives aligned with the contract lifecycle process.

Job Description

  • Define and implement the overall technical architecture and design principles for the VMO organization.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology platforms, frameworks, and tools that align with strategic business goals.
  • Design and implement a centralized data repository to ingest and analyze contract data (e.g., Ariba, ServiceNow, Apptio), enabling real-time insights for renewals, compliance, and cost optimization.
  • Define, engineer and implement strategic Automation and AI use cases for vendor relationship management, vendor performance tracking, and purchasing automation.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Legal, Finance, Business Operations and Technology groups to deliver innovative VMO solutions.
  • Engage in research and development activities to explore new technologies, conduct proofs-of-concept, and identify innovative solutions to advance VMO capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment between technical decisions and business objectives.
  • Establish standardized processes to accelerate decision-making and enhance transparency in vendor management office towers.
  • Represent the organization as industry experts and thought leaders by participating in industry conferences, forums, and publications, sharing their knowledge and insights to contribute to the advancement of the field.
  • Encourage and support a culture of innovation, experimentation, and creative problem-solving among the team.
  • Attend relevant training programs and workshops and actively seek opportunities to enhance their technical skills and knowledge to stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise to guide the organization in adopting and leveraging emerging technologies.


For this role you will need Minimum Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing digital solutions, with deep knowledge of procurement, contract lifecycle management, or vendor systems.
  • 10+ years of experience in deep problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
  • 5+ years of Advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills with a deep understanding of AI models and industry leading architectures
  • Demonstrated experience in driving automation and data strategies that enhance operational efficiency and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proven track record of business intelligence and analytics expertise
  • Expertise in data architecture, including the design of data models and metadata standards for vendor and contract lifecycle management.
  • Understanding of governance frameworks and best practices for ensuring compliance in vendor management and contract lifecycle processes.
  • Experience in managing complex projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Mastery of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, Legal, Finance, and IT.
  • Strong execution and delivery (planning, delivering, and supporting) skills; proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale automation solutions within complex organizational structure

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required/specialized training/relevant professional qualification.
  • Master’s degree preferred but not required.

    Pay Range

    The typical pay range for this role is:

    $175,100.00 - $334,750.00


    This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
