The Opportunity:

As the Director of VCEA Internships & Career Services you will provide leadership, management, and overall administration. You serve as a resource for campus partners, such as the Academic Success and Career Center (ASCC), that provides services to students as they identify and pursue their career goals. In this role you will serve as a resource for industry and faculty who hire, seek to hire, or require assistance in recognizing the value of hiring VCEA students. As the director you advise faculty, department staff, current and prospective students about the value of degree-related experiential learning opportunities and how to secure such opportunities (whether locally, regionally, nationally, or internationally). Some responsibilities include reviewing student files, making referrals, and creating special programming or services to enhance student success and persistence to completion within the program. In this position you will, also provide assistance with college-wide advising program as it relates to career, internships, and co-op opportunities, assisting with retention initiatives, including orientations and related activities, and serves on committees.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime-eligible.

Monthly Salary: $4,508.70 - $6,750 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Masters degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.

  • Experience with or demonstrated knowledge of the development, implementation, and evaluation of student programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in development or donor relationship management.

  • Experience in administration or education within a technical discipline, preferably engineering or applied science.

  • Experience working in the engineering or high tech sector, especially as it relates to employment.

  • Established contacts with diverse industries that typically employ those with degrees in engineering, computer science, architecture, or construction management.

  • Excellent multitasking abilities and oral and written communication skills.
