Finance & Accounting – Context of Role
The Finance & Accounting (F&A) function at Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) is on a multi-year journey to modernize its operating model across all business lines.
In support of addressing changing circumstances in MVW’s markets, services, and business needs, this role requires a Director who delivers flexible, practical ways to respond to these changes over time. Supports, energizes, and accelerates the rollout of planned transformation programs that position and strengthen MVW for the future.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Global Strategy and Transformation, the manages the design and execution of the Finance & Accounting (F&A) Global Transformation Program Management Office and serves as the operational point of contact for internal associates, Managed Service Providers (MSPs), and Third-Party Resources (TPRs) who execute F&A transition and transformation projects across the MVW Enterprise.
As a member of MVW’s F&A Transformation Strategy & Performance Team, the role energizes and accelerates the rollout of the F&A Transformation projects that position and strengthen MVW for the future by rigorously measuring outcomes and leveraging lessons learned to future projects. Assists in identifying new opportunities, persuasively communicating benefits and expectations of the F&A operations model, and being vigilant that MVW remains focused on delivering value to customers and associates.
- Primary responsibilities include managing internal and third-party project managers and partnering with MVW functional leads and subject matter experts (SMEs) to define business requirements, manage user acceptance testing (UAT), and support hypercare for applicable projects during the HCLTech initial delivery, transition, and on-going transformational activities. Reports results to senior MVW leaders and to the MVW Vendor Management Office (VMO).
Objectives & Key Results
- Delivery projects within the portfolio on time, within scope and budget, e.g., achieve 95% on-time delivery rate, maintain a budget variance within +/- 5%, and complete 100% of scope items defined in each project charter
- Improve stakeholder communication and satisfaction via survey administration, e.g., increase stakeholder satisfaction score from 80% to 85% of active projects
- Enhance team collaboration and performance, e.g., facilitate bi-weekly retrospectives with 100% participation, improve team velocity by 10% over next quarter
- Strengthen risk and issue management, e.g., mitigate or resolve 90% of critical tasks before project milestone achievement, and maintain issue resolution time under three days for 95% of cases
- Drive continuous improvement in delivery practices, e.g., implement three new process improvements based on post retrospective feedback

Expected Contributions
Program Planning & Strategy
- Identifies and designs fit-for-purpose processes, tools, and controls required to operate in the new operating model and in support of MVW’s enterprise business strategy.
- Defines program goals, scope, and success criteria aligned with business strategies.
- Develops integrated roadmaps across multiple projects.
- Aligns program objectives with MVW Enterprise priorities and value streams.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Works collaboratively with leaders across MVW’s business disciplines and corporate shared services, e.g., finance, legal, and global technology teams to support the design and execution of process and technology related training required to successfully operate in the transformed environment.
- Facilitates collaboration between project teams ensuring that dependencies are effectively managed.
- Collaborates with MVW senior functional leaders, including those in HR and GT.
Execution & Delivery Management
- Oversees execution of multiple related projects or initiatives.
- Maintains sensitivity to critical interdependencies in the transformation plan, defining and initiating workable integration activities, and tracking actions through to completion.
- Tracks progress against milestones, budgets, and timelines.
- Ensures delivery quality through governance, risk management, and escalation protocols.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Communicates program status, risks, and outcomes to Executive Committee Members, Sponsors, and senior business leaders.
- Manages stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment on priorities.
- Creates and delivers executive level reporting and dashboards.
- Collaborates with Organization Change Management (OCM) team, MVW’s dedicated Communications lead, third-party resources, and external Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to scope communications plans, define content and story lines, and execute change management plans.
Risk, Issues, & Change Management
- Identifies and mitigates risks across the program lifecycle.
- Manages change requests and assesses impacts on scope, schedules, and resources.
- Adjusts project schedules and milestones as agreed by MVW leadership
- Ensures compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
Agile & Lean Practices Enablement
- Supports hybrid, i.e., agile and waterfall, approach to project management.
- Promotes lean delivery principles and continuous improvement.
- Facilitates pre-mortem, retrospectives, agile ceremonies, and post-mortem assessments at the program level.
- Seeks and recommends potential improvements to the global operating model that enable its maturity over time.
Budgeting & Resource Management
- Partners with Finance to manage program budgets and with HR, and external vendors to manage resource allocation.
- Forecasts and tracks spend across teams and vendors.
- Optimizes resource utilization and team capacity.
Metrics & Outcome Tracking
- Defines and monitors KPIs and OKRs for program success.
- Monitors achievement of project milestones and deliverables of project implementation teams across transformation initiatives.
- Measures and evaluates transformation program and project effectiveness including broad organizational acceptance and adoption of intended outcomes.
- Ensures programs deliver measurable business and customer outcomes.

Candidate Profile
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or management, technology, hospitality, or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- PMP/PMI Certification preferred
Experience
- At least 10 years of progressive work experience managing enterprise-wide strategic organization transformational initiatives, preferably in Finance and Accounting.
- Experience in a publicly traded, multi-business line, international environment preferred.
- Experience in a matrix corporate structured organization preferred.
- Experience in Hotel Management, Vacation Ownership, Hospitality preferred.
- Experience coordinating and directing multiple resources, both internal resources and external vendors, to accomplish tasks.
