Deal captain for complex financing transactions for our MidCorporate clients

As Director Structured Lending within Business Banking you are the finance as well as commercial expert with regards to complex financing structures such as acquisition finance or club deals.

As deal captain you are responsible for advising, structuring and realising the best deal for our MidCorporate clients and prospects. Structured Lending works together with other departments within ING such as Corporate Investments, Lease, Commercial Finance and Risk as well as a variety of external parties. You represent Structured Lending in the internal and external network and you use your connections and flair to expand our network. Last but not least, you play an important role in the development of team members and our department based in Amsterdam.

Role and responsibility

As Director Structured Lending you work in a team of 18 specialists in Amsterdam. For each transaction a new deal team is formed, for which you are responsible. Your role consists of:

  • Advising clients on their capital structure and winning mandates
  • Being deal captain and first point of contact during the transaction and coordinate with all parties involved
  • Analysing business models, sector trends and financial figures in order to model forecasts and scenarios
  • Structuring the best deal considering client’s requests and ING’s risk appetite
  • Drafting credit proposals, term sheets and documentation
  • Coaching team members
  • Developing the team and making a significant contribution to strengthen the market position of ING Business Banking
  • Representing Structured Lending and expanding our internal as well as external network of clients, (debt) advisors, lawyers and accountants

We work in hybrid mode; from our office in Amsterdam as well as from home.

Structured Lending is part of Lending & Event Finance (c. 150FTE) which gives you the opportunity to expand your knowledge but also to network via various social events.

How to succeed

You make the difference with your positive attitude, excellent analytical, social and commercial skills as well as extensive knowledge. Your communication is clear and transparent and you are able to coordinate on different levels with clients and other stakeholders in order to close the deal. Furthermore, you love to bring the team and its members to the next level.

Further more you bring;

  • Fluency in both Dutch and English (written and spoken);
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience experience in financial services in which you have analysed business models, complex financial models and LMA;
  • Strong track record in winning mandates and act as trusted advisor;
  • Seasoned when it comes to structuring of transactions, stakeholder management and coordination of other lenders and departments;
  • Extensive knowledge of complex financing structures, including acquisition finance, and products, such as Commercial Finance, Lease and Financial Markets;
  • Up to date with the latest market trends and alternative financing solutions (i.e. direct lending and mezzanine);
  • Experienced with assessment of due diligence reports, drafting term sheets and complex loan documentation and negotiating the best terms;
  • Experience with coaching and development of team members;
  • Extensive network including (debt) advisors, accountants, lawyers.
