Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is looking for a Director of Software Engineering 1 for the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division Engineering Functional Homeroom organization --with a Software Engineering background and leadership. In this role, the selected leader will be responsible for establishing and driving common engineering processes, tools, and technical developmental and training resources in support of engineering employees and managers across the enabling and digital technologies portfolio of the division. This position will be located in Huntsville AL, Roy, UT, Colorado Springs CO or Manhattan Beach CA. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You Will Get To Do:
- Work in partnership with the Segments, Program Management Team and Program Leadership to define and enable execution of the Software statement of work in alignment with the customer SOW
 - Responsible for leading the team consisting of platform engineering, technical project engineering, Agile subject matter expertise, test automation and simulations, and cutting-edge enabling technologies (AI/ML, Data Science, DevOps)
 - Lead and direct software working groups charter with internal and customer stakeholders
 - Establish Software Community of Practice (COP) leveraging the best-in-class industry knowledgebase
 - Key member of the program leadership team to help create the alignment with the division software strategy
 - Responsible for oversight of the end-to-end software development
 - Maintain open communications with all Enterprise functions including Engineering, Quality, GSC, Logistics, Engineering Services and Segments
 - Development and execution of long-range plans and strategies while providing the most effective resources by skillsets to the program
 - Experience working with Digital Environments integrating and reporting across the program
 - Outline specific objectives and processes that are focused on generating innovative solutions to moderately complex business problems
 - The candidate will need to demonstrate exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, have the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with varying levels of Customer, NGC, and Supplier employees and leadership
 - Hire and develop the diverse skilled employees, establish the mentorship and coaching culture including growing and strengthening the leadership bench

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications: 
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and a minimum 10 years of related experience or Masters Degree and 8 years of related experience
 - Experience in a formal management/lead position
 - 3+ years experience with:
- Management experience leading a technical and complex program effort.
 - Experience developing and administering budgets and standards of performance
 - Experience in developing and implementing technologies associated with production processes with efficient and sustainable implementation
 
 - U.S. Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance with investigation date/periodic review within last 5 years and ability to obtain program special access
 
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: 
- Master's degree or higher in engineering or related scientific discipline
 - Experience standing up an organization and/or leading a major change initiative
 - Active Top Secret clearance
 - ICBM or complex aerospace systems experience
 
- Knowledge and experience with IFC and Agile software development in a classified environment
 - Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnel
 - Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager
 
Primary Level Salary Range: $187,700.00 - $325,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
