Director, Retail Strategy

The Retail Strategy Director will be responsible for developing and driving long-term and annual retail channel strategies that align with GSK’s vision to be the most trusted source of information and an action-oriented manufacturer at eliminating vaccine-preventable diseases. This role will focus on identifying retail insights, unmet needs, and market trends to optimize the retail channel’s performance. Reporting to the Head of Retail, VBU, this role will enable an inspiring commercial leader and highly experienced strategist to collaborate across functions in order to achieve our ambitions among strategic KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop long-term and annual retail strategies based on market landscape and trends

  • Identify retail insights and unmet needs to inform strategic decisions

  • Lead retail segmentation and data strategy to optimize channel performance

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align retail strategies with broader organizational goals

  • Define strategic retail KPIs and monitor progress

  • Provide actionable insights to guide retail channel growth and innovation

Essential attributes:

  • A keen understanding of the levers affecting retail channel

  • Developing strategy in complex and novel environments outside of the typical brand pharmaceutical model

  • Drive opportunity analysis and actionable insights

  • Define, track, analyze key performance measures and make data-driven decisions

  • Influence at all levels & build strong relationships in a matrix environment

  • Tactical plan development

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 8+ years of relevant pharmaceutical commercial or retail pharmacy operations, purchasing or strategy experience

  • Proven ability to develop strategies in complex environments

  • Leadership and matrix team management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • MBA or Pharm.D preferred.

  • Prior experience with vaccines

  • 3+ years of people leadership experience or leadership across a diverse group of matrix partners with demonstrated outcomes

  • Experience with developing and presenting business analysis, storyboarding and vision setting with senior leadership at the business unit head or chain leadership level

  • Influence & Matrix Leadership: A collaborative leader who inspires cross-functional teams, builds consensus across complex environments, and translates strategic intent into results through influence, clarity, and shared purpose.
