Why this role is important?

The Director, Pharmaceutical Sourcing and Commercial Operations reports directly to the  Sr. Director, Sanis Operations and Planning in a role designed to help drive and execute the enterprise financial plan by managing the generic portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering the financial plan by executing strategies in the areas of vendor management, sales planning and program management. The four key aspects of the role include: Financial planning and delivery, vendor portfolio management, contract management and retail operations special projects.

What You'll Do: 

Working closely within the entire Pharmacy department as well as other cross functional areas, you will deliver excellence in the following areas:

  • Manage and negotiate with Generic Pharma partners, ensure performance and alignment through regular business reviews

  • Lead business development opportunities supporting product and partner selection strategy

  • Lead Data and analytics supporting partner strategy for generic specialty products

  • Support enterprise revenue verticals through collaboration with greater Pharmacy team.

  • Manage quarterly business reviews including financial reconciliations with multiple generic vendors

  • Closely manage each generic vendor’s portfolio to ensure the company is on track to deliver the plan

  • Manage the forecast for new generic launches to include in the financial plan using both internal and external data

  • Manage all impacts of provincial pharmaceutical reform to the financial plan

  • Working closely with the generic vendors to ensure programs are properly running and meets all competitive and regulatory standards

  • Work with internal legal and regulatory Directors to ensure programs respect legal and regulatory requirements

  • Regularly review market data to provide the business with insights into the current trends and dynamics

  • Lead and execute strategic initiatives to maximize portfolio performance and identify opportunities for efficiencies

SUPERVISION/LEADERSHIP

  • This position has 2 direct reports and 4 indirect reports

EDUCATION

  • University degree in business, science or related field

What You'll Need:

  • Advanced analytical abilities with a sound knowledge of quantitative decision models

  • Previous experience or proven skills leading and working within a team

  • Proven relationship management (both internal and external) skills

  • Knowledge or previous experience in the Canadian Pharmaceutical industry (Generic pharma experience preferred)

  • Ability to manage multiple high priority initiatives with a great sense of urgency

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Detail oriented, diplomatic team player with a proactive results orientation

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate ideas and actions at all levels of the organization

  • Self starter: demonstrated initiative and ability to prioritize

  • Strong professional presence, planning and organizational skills

  • Delivers results in a high-pressure environment; able to set priorities and meet challenging deadlines

  • Is able to work in an almost hybrid fashion, have the required analytical skills but the capacity to move away from the numbers to communicate rationale for directives in front facing situations to all levels of management/peers and externally when required

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel and Access)

  • Able to travel approximately 5-10% of the time
