about the position…

The Director of Transportation is a high-impact leadership opportunity to build and scale a transportation operation that supports Power Design’s growth across the country. The Director will lead the expansion of our private fleet from 5 to 30+ units, implement best-in-class transportation systems, and develop a strong team focused on safe, reliable, and efficient delivery. position responsibilities

  • Lead and scale Power Design’s private fleet from 5 to 30+ units, including equipment planning, purchasing, maintenance, routing, dispatching, and scheduling for nationwide deliveries.
  • Ensure all fleet and driver operations meet DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and Power Design safety standards while managing CDL and non-CDL drivers with a focus on training, performance, compliance, and retention.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, safety programs, and driver incentive plans that support service, efficiency, and retention.
  • Manage all outbound freight across LTL, FTL, flatbed, and parcel modes, and negotiate rates, contracts, and service agreements with carriers and logistics partners.
  • Implement and optimize Oracle Fusion TMS and telematics systems, track key performance metrics (cost per mile, utilization, on-time delivery, fleet profitability), and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing transportation team, manage annual budgets and cost-saving initiatives, and collaborate with field and project teams to align transportation schedules to project priorities.

here’s what we’re looking for…

  • Bachelor’s in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, or related field (MBA preferred) with 10+ years in transportation/fleet management, including 5+ years leading teams.
  • Proven track record scaling private fleets, managing third-party carriers, and owning full P&L responsibility.
  • Deep knowledge of DOT/FMCSA compliance, driver safety programs, and equipment management.
  • Experienced with TMS platforms (Oracle preferred) and telematics/fleet management systems.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on operational execution.
  • Skilled in developing KPIs, dashboards, cost-control systems, and driving profitability.
