Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Director of Operations is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities and functions of departments within an acute care facility. The Director prepares budgets, develops goals and objectives, supports assigned Managers, develops policies and procedures, and ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained.  The Director of Operations ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, and in partnership with the site Senior Leadership team provides daily operational support in promoting the mission and values of Bon Secours Mercy Health.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to monitor and oversee hospital daily operations.

  • Develops strategies for growth of facility and market in collaboration with the President.

  • Analyzes current operational processes and performance and develops solutions to address gaps in performance.

  • Sets strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity.

  • Plans, organizes, and directions policies and procedures that support patient care and associate experience.

  • Develops and monitors departmental budgets.

  • Leads programs as required by The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies and participates/leads hospital-based committees.

  • Develops leadership teams, creating a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.

Education

  • Bachelors Degree required in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field

  • Masters Degree preferred

Work Experience

  • Three to five years of progressively more responsible administrative experience in healthcare

  • Demonstrated experience organizing and directing all activities or functions within an area.

  • Experience in financial management, program development, and business strategy

  • Demonstrated competency in provider relations
