Director of JD Admissions

Law School Campus Full time
Leads Admissions strategies to recruit and enroll qualified JD entering and transfer class. Direct Admissions staff and implement strategies developed by leadership and senior deans.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Supervise Admissions staff; prepare staff reviews, make recommendations for staff development

  • Supervise office operations and workflow; analyze operational effectiveness and implement process improvements; serve as the key resource for overall management of the admissions process

  • Select and manage LLS Student Ambassadors and other student volunteers; train Student Ambassadors as recruiters and panelists; evaluate Ambassador program and make recommendations for improvement

  • Read, evaluate and recommend decisions for JD applications; participate in selection of scholars; cultivate relationships with admitted students to increase engagement and promote enrollment

  • Lead technical developments for Admissions in UNITE; recommend technical updates and refinements; serve as primary liaison to Westchester for Banner projects and development; create and monitor intercampus processes

  • Prepare statistical reports related to application volume and trends, recruitment and conversion events and yield strategies; analyze data and make recommendations to senior deans and leadership

  • Create, lead and manage signature events for admitted students, like Preview Day; monitor events’ budgets

  • Manage and execute recruitment calendar; make recommendations to increase effectiveness of on- and off-campus events

  • Engage in critical review and analysis of outreach and yield efforts to assess success or areas of improvement

  • Make presentations to prelaw societies and other candidates as part of recruitment and conversion efforts; develop relationships with prelaw, college and career advisors from critical feeder schools to promote LLS

  • Assist with development of pipeline programs to expand outreach

  • Counsel prospective students on application process; provide feedback on applications and advise applicants on reapplicant and transfer policies

  • Manage application process for transfer students; work with faculty, clinic directors and law school leadership to highlight critical programs to admitted transfer students; serve as critical lead to enroll transfer class

  • Assist with development of marketing strategies in print and social media to promote law school; collaborate with enrollment team, Westchester MarComm team, and contractors to create print and social media collateral

  • Serve on interdepartmental committees, work groups and task forces as assigned

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.  The Law School reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Requisite Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree is required.  A Master’s degree, JD, or equivalent postgraduate training or classes in higher education, enrollment management, or related field is preferred.

Minimum 3 years professional experience in higher education or law school  admissions office or related setting is required. Supervisory experience is preferred.  Experience working with student information systems (i.e., Banner) and the Law School Admission Council’s ACES2 is a plus.

Excellent interpersonal, organizational and planning skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to large and small groups of prospective students and other audiences; demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment; effective problem solving skills and strong ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently; knowledge of database systems and report generation; proficiency in MS Office (e.g.: Word, Excel, Access).

Salary Range: $115,000-$135,000

$115,100.00 - $155,400.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
