Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs to join our leadership team and ensure our operations meet the highest standards of regulatory and ethical compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the company's compliance programs, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards (with a focus on insurance).
  • Monitor regulatory developments and proactively update company policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Lead internal audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and risks; develop/implement corrective action plans as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and supervise all regulatory filings, licensing, auditing, examinations, and communications.
  • Assist the growth agenda: entering new states, new product lines, new jurisdictions — compliance readiness, and enablement.
  • Build, scale, and mature our compliance infrastructure, processes, and operating system in alignment with “HiveOS”: establish compliance playbooks, standard contract templates, approval workflows, KPI dashboard, stakeholder servicing levels.
  • Collaborate with legal, claims, product, and technology teams to ensure compliance is integrated into all business processes and product offerings.
  • Design and deliver compliance training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance issues, complaints, or violations, and report findings to senior management and the board as appropriate.
  • Prepare and present regular compliance reports to the SL.
  • Foster a culture of compliance and ethical conduct throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (JD, MBA, or similar) preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in compliance, legal, or risk management roles within the insurance industry; insurtech experience is a strong plus.
  • Deep knowledge of insurance regulations, data privacy laws, and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and managing audits or examinations.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity.
  • Hybrid availability: Must be able to work from our NYC office three days per week (Tuesday through Thursday)
