Director of Cloud & Core Infrastructure Services

The Director of Cloud & Core Infrastructure Services is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the evolution of hybrid infrastructure across on-premises data centers and multi-cloud environments. This position leads three foundational pillars of the infrastructure organization: Cloud & Compute Services, Storage & Data Protection, and Platform Engineering & Virtualization.
This role ensures the delivery of resilient, scalable, and secure infrastructure platforms that support enterprise-wide digital transformation, cloud adoption, and operational excellence

Cloud & Compute Platform Engineering

  • Lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of hybrid compute platforms across AWS, Azure, and on-prem environments.
  • Ensure infrastructure solutions are cloud-optimized, secure, and aligned with business and technology strategies.
  • Champion infrastructure-as-code (IaC), automation, and DevOps practices to accelerate delivery and improve reliability.

Storage & Data Protection Services

  • Oversee enterprise storage and backup platforms, including cloud-native storage (e.g., S3, EBS, FSx, Azure NetApp Files) and hybrid solutions.
  • Drive modernization initiatives to transition legacy storage to cloud-based, scalable, and cost-efficient architectures.
  • Implement data protection strategies that meet compliance, recovery, and business continuity requirements.

Platform Engineering & Virtualization

  • Manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Cisco HyperFlex) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) to support dynamic workloads.
  • Guide the adoption of cloud-native compute services and serverless architectures where appropriate.
  • Ensure platform resilience, performance, and observability through proactive monitoring and automation.

Operational Governance & Service Management

  • Govern infrastructure operations through ITSM best practices (incident, change, problem management) across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Manage vendor-delivered services and ensure SLAs are met for infrastructure availability, performance, and support.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for critical infrastructure issues, ensuring rapid resolution and root cause analysis.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead a globally distributed team of engineers and product owners across the US, EMEA, and India.
  • Partner with application, security, and product teams to ensure infrastructure capabilities align with evolving business needs.
  • Drive cross-functional programs that enable cloud adoption, infrastructure optimization, and digital transformation.

Key Qualifications:

This role requires a deep understanding of Storage & Backup, Server Platform and OS (Windows & Linux) technologies and significant experience in infrastructure engineering for data centers and cloud providers. Strong leadership skills and experience with large-scale infrastructure projects are essential to successfully guide the organization and improve overall business agility.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, MIS, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 18+ years of Experience in managing Server Platform Infrastructure like VMware vSphere 7.x & 8.x environment (clusters/farms), Cisco Hyperflex, Cisco UCS & Fabric Interconnects and Skills to manage AWS Cloud Environment and Windows & Linux Infrastructure
  • Extensive experience in managing SAN, NAS, Backup & Cloud Backup Infrastructure with strong skills on Commvault, FSXn, EBS, EFS, S3, Azure NetApp (ANF), NetApp CVO
  • 10+ years of leadership experience, with a proven track record in delivering business and technical roadmaps by leading technical teams and executing initiatives in an outsourced/vendor partner environment (both onshore and offshore).
  • Extensive experience in managing Storage & Backup infrastructure, UNIX/Linux/Windows operating systems, VMware, Citrix, networking, security, client computing, backup systems and datacenter operations.
  • Proven expertise in platform engineering (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), server technologies (e.g., blades, virtual machines), and containerization/orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) & Git/Bitbucket etc
  • Experience in driving cost optimization initiatives and rationalization.

Technical Expertise

  • Demonstrated ability to design, deploy, and manage large-scale Infrastructure operations, focusing on reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Strong knowledge of server architecture, storage solutions (SAN, NAS, DAS), and Server Platform and Windows and Linux technologies
  • Strong Knowledge on cloud technologies and providers, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Strategic Leadership

  • Experienced in setting strategic direction for server, storage, Windows/Linux and datacenter operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives, budget, and risk tolerance.
  • Proven record of driving diverse initiatives and executing efficiently, balancing short-term goals with long-term strategy.

Operational Excellence

  • Skilled in ITSM practices (e.g., incident, problem, and change management), especially within datacenter and Cloud
  • Expertise in implementing automation and monitoring solutions to reduce manual intervention, optimize infrastructure, and improve system reliability.
  • Demonstrated reasoning and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues.

Financial Acumen

  • Ability to manage large budgets, including capital and operational expenses, related to server, storage & Backup, Windows, Linux and datacenter initiatives.
  • Skilled in cost optimization, vendor management, and strategic partnerships to maximize infrastructure investments.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Strong customer service orientation, with experience in customer relationship management.
  • Proven success in influencing, leading, and coaching technical teams, including those outside of direct leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to executives and non-technical stakeholders.
