This sales leadership position is responsible for formulating, supporting, and driving the businesses strategy in the Education, Government and Military segments. The position will be expected to partner with the Sysco Field selling organization, the Sysco Commercial Team, the New Business Development team, and the National Sales team to achieve assigned business goals (new business, penetration of existing business, and preventing lost business) while enhancing the customer experience. The position will focus on customers in institutional sales, in addition to supporting and driving the education business in the FSM space.
The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating and executing short and long term strategies in Education, Government and Military to drive revenue growth and market penetration within the education sector. National VP of Education & Bid COE will manage functional leaders and the Bid COE that develops and specializes a centralized process to manage bids.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement effective sales strategies to increase revenue and market share within the institutional segments. Identify the needs of key stakeholder, including customers and prospects, to assemble a product mix that delivers solutions and helps achieve business objectives.
Manage Bid Center of Exellence to support Local and National bid work to assume more effective and consistent bid entries to enable volume and share growth.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders within the Education, Government and Military sectors.
Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement
Collaborate with other functional areas, including marketing, merchandising, culinary, product development, and customer service, and government relations to develop and execute successful sales campaigns and initiatives.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and best practices, as well as relevant legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., NOI tracking)
Develop a strategy to align with industry conferences, trade shows, and other events to promote the company's products and services and stay up to date on industry trends and innovations
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics or related area
Education Preferred:
MBA (?)
Experience Required:
Strong knowledge of the Education, Government and Military sector, including key trends, challenges, and opportunities
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders.
10+ years of experience in sales, preferably within the Institutional Segments.
Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and market penetration in a sales leadership role
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel as needed to attend conferences, trade shows, and other events
Experience Preferred:
Leadership position in the education / foodservice segment
Technical Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in Institutional segment knowledge, trends, industry regulations (e.g., Bids, NOI tracking)
Analytical problem-solving skills, including familiarity with analyzing reports and deriving insights from data
Ability to express information in terms of profit and loss, food cost and expense ratio
Strong financial acumen and ability to properly plan and execute business plans
Flexible; readily accepts change; open to new ideas
Track record of success in consultative selling, networking and negotiations
Proficient communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with and influence a variety of key stakeholders
Experience building trust with prospective customers and securing new business
Proficient in Microsoft Applications Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Proactive and self-directed, with the ability to structure a weekly schedule to be successful
Demonstrated ability to deliver against deadlines and produce high-quality results (accuracy, thoroughness in the deliverables they are producing)
Excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to execute multiple initiatives at the same time
