McKesson Medical-Surgical is seeking a Director, MedSol Laboratory Consulting Services. This US-based role is remote with frequent domestic travel. The Director of MedSol Laboratory Consulting leads a team of technical consultants responsible for customer clinical laboratory licensure, compliance, and consulting services oversight. The Director sets directions aligned with business initiatives, attracts and selects talent, onboards new employees, drives team performance, and fosters an inclusive work environment. The role involves engaging with customers, manufacturers, and regulatory partners such as COLA, CLIA, HHS, and various McKesson teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the MedSol Laboratory Consultant Team, including onboarding, training, performance management, and career development to ensure alignment and standardization across the team.

  • Achieve MBO targets, participate in bi-monthly check-ins with the Sr. Director of Lab Services, and adjust consulting tactics based on guidance.

  • Execute strategies to drive growth and team performance, coordinate MedSol analytics and activities, and provide business management and clinical expertise.

  • Ensure customer accounts comply with state, local, and federal regulations, and maintain current laboratory records in project management software.

  • Work with Sr. Director and sales to review market changes, align funnel opportunities and drive strategy to support sales engagement and lab growth. Keep teams and leadership updated on regulatory changes and influence the adoption of new opportunities.

  • Keep up with advancements in laboratory technology and compliance and regulatory standards, including CMS updates.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of supervisory and/or management experience.

Education:

  • Qualified candidates should have one of the following from an accredited institution:
  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in a laboratory science, medical technology, or equivalent degree
  • Doctoral or Masters Degree in a laboratory science is plus

Certifications/Licensure:

  • ASCP or equivalent certification is preferred
  • Licensing in Laboratory Science/ Medical Laboratory Scientist required within first year by the state where the laboratory is located (when applicable)

Work Experience:

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Technologist (MT) / Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) with 7+ years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.  The training or experience requirements may be acquired concurrently for more than one specialty.
  • 1-year leading people directly or indirectly

Required Skills:  

  • Technical laboratory and laboratory consulting experience
  • Expertise in CLIA and CMS (federal) regulatory guidelines
  • Knowledge and comprehension of state specific regulatory standards and accreditation organization standards to include COLA, CAP and Joint Commission
  • Experience setting up new/supporting existing clinical laboratories
  • Experience working in a virtual environment including engagement with customers
  • Experience with Quality Assurance and Quality Management in a laboratory setting
  • Strong competency with MS Office suite of products

Additional Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to read and construct customer contracts
  • Experience as a laboratory supervisor, manager, or technical consultant
  • Project Management certifications

  • Up to 70% travel expectation

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$101,300 - $168,800
