The Director, Curriculum Medical Education - Charlotte will lead the Curriculum support staff under the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) department within the Wake Forest University School of Medicine – MD program in Charlotte NC. This role will be responsible for the oversight, and overall direction, operations, and management of the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum staff team. In collaboration with the faculty leadership, this role will provide strategic support on initiatives, daily operational needs and budgetary requirements. This role provides a logistics and strategic leadership voice in supporting the educational infrastructure for all aspects of undergraduate medical education curriculum.
This position will report directly to the AVP, Operations and Administration for Undergraduate Medical Education and will collaborate with other Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSM), Atrium Health and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Health leaders, to implement a vision and strategy for the collective academic enterprise with defined goals and outcomes that encompass measures of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. The candidate will be a team player focused on using data for the greater good of the Undergraduate Medical Education department. This role will align and support direction of the Sr. Associate Dean of Curriculum as well as the campus specific deans on the Charlotte campus.
Essential Functions:
o Support the established strategic direction and responsible for the implementation. Directs the application of strategic direction and operating processes, procedures, and policies for the curriculum-related management of education faculty and staff and strengthening of the medical school as it relates to curriculum management, evaluation and enhancement.
o Maintains oversight and responsibility for all functional areas of the curriculum for the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) staff team, including curriculum coordination for Pre-Clerkship, Clerkship and program administration.
o Liaison with leaders in assessment and evaluation, learning technology, and program administration to support curricular needs.
o Maintains oversight of staff for operations and planning with faculty.
o Provides guidance and management for the curriculum group in UME. Oversees day-to-day operations and implementation of the undergraduate medical education (UME) program. In collaboration with program leadership, establishes and oversees strategic direction to ensure successful implementation of program objectives.
o Responsible for personnel management for curriculum team hiring, onboarding, staff evaluations, reviews, and human resource-related functions
o Collaborates with their peer Director of Curriculum to support the strategic oversight of the MD Curriculum at all WFUSM campus, including the quality and content of the educational program and providing enhancements to the process and outcomes of teaching and learning. Makes recommendation for curriculum changes based on achievement of program outcomes and operations.
o Works with senior leadership of UME to establish mission and vision of UME program curriculum in support of and in alignment with the School of Medicine’s strategic direction. Provides leadership, oversight, and project management for the development and implementation of innovative curriculum design for faculty teams to implement curricular initiatives.
o Maintains budgetary oversight for MD program curriculum delivery and assessment. Ensures prompt fund transfers for curriculum support.
o Maintains oversight responsibility for the quality and content of the UME program curriculum, striving continually to enhance the process, policies and procedures to ensure anticipated outcomes of the teaching and learning.
o Develops project plans related to curriculum innovation, change management, and strategic planning.
o Researches, analyzes, reports and develops action plans on complex issues including adherence to the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) requirements and cross-over between UME and other medical school program accreditation needs.
o Performs curriculum audits to ensure the requirements of the UME curriculum as dictated by LCME are being met; plans, directs and leads continuous quality improvement efforts using internal and national assessment data.
o Seeks, develops, and implements interdisciplinary approaches and opportunities to collaborate and align resources, strategies, and policies with other medical school programs. Serves as liaison to other school of medicine programs, by way of committees and teams.
o In collaboration with senior program leadership, identifies strategic initiatives and develops approach to funding to meet program objectives. Maintains oversight and management of budget expenditures.
o Serves as an ex- officio member of the UME Curriculum Committee (UMECC) and other institutional committees. Serve on committees for national and international professional organizations;

Minimum Requirements:
o Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s preferred; 3+ years of direct experience in area of medical education administration.
o At least three (3) years of progressive supervisory experience in medical education.
o High energy, team-oriented, people-focused with a passion for excellence consistent with WFUSM’s culture and core values and operating with the utmost integrity.
