The Director, Island Operations will provide overall strategic, operational direction, cross-functional integration and innovative and inspirational leadership to Disney Cruise Line's Island destination operations. This role will be accountable for performance and results for all areas on Castaway Cay and Lighthouse Point. This role will also provide strategic direction on all aspects of operating matters affecting the Castaway Cay and Lighthouse Point operations, while ensuring leadership and cast accountability for excellence in the delivery of all guest service and operational expectations.

Director of Island Operations will report to the Vice President, Port Strategy, Development & Operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Accountable for Annual Operating Planning (AOP) for Island destinations, inclusive of defining growth opportunities, capital projects, etc. Responsible for all related financial and operational results (cost, budgets and revenues)

  • Develop and articulate the long-term departmental business priorities while providing day-to-day leadership and operational direction through clear expectations and consistent accountability

  • Develop innovative strategies to maximize the commercial potential to increase profits, reduce costs, and transform our business to provide world-class experiences to our guests

  • Provide leadership and guidance for all aspects of island destination operations including Maintenance, Recreation, Security, Landscaping, Tram and Boat Operations, Pest Management, Retail and Food and Beverage

  • Research, develop, and implement new business opportunities for both guest, cast/crew satisfaction and island revenues

  • Develop strategies and tactics for overall service delivery, guest experience, physical asset conditions and overall island destination excellence

  • Develop and support strong partnerships with third party vendors and service providers

  • Provide leadership and oversight to Island Operations Directors, Manager Island Projects & Operations and Manager Island Operations to see that island cast services and facilities are maintained at expected levels

  • Partner, collaborate and integrate with all ship and shoreside lines of business to support the Island Operation including Safety, Security and Environmental Policy and Compliance, Hotel Operations, Marine Operations, Technical Operations, Entertainment and Port Adventures, Animal Programs, Purchasing and Logistics, Human Resources, Retail, Food and Beverage and Pest Management

  • Provide inspiring leadership and direction for environmental, conservation, safety, and social responsibility initiatives

  • Conduct regular property visits to ensure brand and standards are being achieved

  • Provide operational support and strategic planning assistance for new itineraries

  • Leverage relationships within Disney Cruise Line, industry organizations, internal peer organizations, and key external stakeholders to maximize effective outreach and continuously explore best practices for our Island destinations

Basic Qualifications – What You Will Bring to the Team

  • 10+ years of progressive hotel, resort or similar leadership experience, including global resorts

  • Experience in multi-property resort management and launching new properties

  • Understanding of the engineering/maintenance function

  • Demonstrated success in delivering inspirational leadership to multi-cultural teams, with preferrable experience leading remote teams

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, related field or equivalent
