The Director, Human Resources - India will provide strategic and operational human resource support for the India Team for GE Appliances, a Haier company. This role is a strategic business partner who leads a team of HR professionals responsible for translating organizational goals into human capital strategies to drive company success. This role is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive HR initiatives, from attracting and developing talent to fostering an engaging culture and ensuring compliance. This role involves leveraging data and insights to make informed decisions and proactively shape the workforce. This reports to the Senior Director, Human Resources.

How You'll Create Possibilities

Strategic Leadership and Business Partnership

  • Partner with U.S. and India leadership teams to translate global business priorities into localized HR strategies that drive organizational performance and culture.
  • Lead strategic workforce planning, talent forecasting, and organization design to support business growth and capability development.
  • Champion transformational change through process modernization, digital HR tools, and workforce redesign aligned to business goals.

Talent Management and Leadership Development

  • Lead talent and succession planning processes to build a sustainable leadership pipeline.
  • Drive performance management, career development, and leadership capability building initiatives to strengthen employee engagement and retention.
  • Collaborate with U.S. Talent Acquisition to attract, select, and onboard top corporate talent for India.
  • Promote a high-performance culture rooted in accountability, continuous learning, and empowerment.

Compliance and Employee Relations Oversight

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable Indian labor laws, including but not limited to:
  • Shops and Establishments Acts (Karnataka and Telangana)
  • Payment of Wages Act, Gratuity Act, and Social Security Code (2020)
  • Industrial Disputes Act (where applicable)
  • Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act
  • Equal Remuneration Act and other relevant employment regulations
  • Partner with legal counsel to manage statutory audits, inspections, and labor compliance filings.
  • Oversee employee relations and disciplinary matters to ensure fairness, consistency, and due process.
  • Lead the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the PoSH Act, ensuring a safe and respectful workplace.

Culture, Engagement, and Community Relations

  • Drive initiatives that foster inclusion, engagement, and employee well-being.
  • Lead community relations and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, reinforcing GE Appliances’ commitment to ethical business and social impact.
  • Serve as a visible cultural ambassador who models integrity, empathy, and transparency.

Operational Excellence and HR Transformation

  • Modernize HR processes and technology platforms (e.g., Workday, HR analytics) to improve efficiency and employee experience.
  • Translate HR data into actionable insights to guide decision-making and demonstrate HR impact.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small, high-performing HR team that delivers operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Administer HR programs including payroll, benefits, and compliance-related recordkeeping in coordination with global shared services.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including exposure to multinational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in both strategic HR and operational execution.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws and HR compliance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational changes, build talent pipelines, and influence senior leaders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ethics, confidentiality, and judgment in handling sensitive issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems (preferably Workday).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in HR or Business Administration.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience working in a U.S.-based multinational environment with matrixed reporting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in HR analytics, digital HR transformation, and organizational effectiveness.

Working Conditions

  • Based in Bangalore or Hyderabad office.
  • Occasional travel between sites and to the U.S. as required (up to 30%).
  • Flexibility to work across time zones to support U.S. leadership team.
