Our search for better is changing the lives of our patients. It’s changing the careers of our people too – creating new challenges and opportunities all the time. We're looking for a motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a Director - Finance Business Partner , to have real impact and bring Forever Caring to life.

Position Overview:

Acting as co-pilot to the business leader(s), your key accountability is to partner with your business partner to drive commercial performance outcomes against plans, forecasts, and strategic objectives.  This role may or may not have line manager responsibilities.  You will be a trusted and relied upon partner, respected for your commercial acumen and your ability to provide succinct but powerful storytelling, with actionable insight.

You will be the face of Finance for your business stakeholders, connecting them, where appropriate, with your finance colleagues within CBS or the wider Finance team to solve the problems that don’t fall within the accountabilities of the FBP e.g., statutory accounting, tax and controlling activities.  You will be an advocate for the Finance Service Delivery Model, helping your stakeholders understand the new ways of working in Finance.

You will be a leader within the Finance organization, pro-actively sharing your business knowledge and commercial acumen with the FP&A team members to build enduring capability for your BU.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the business to drive commercial performance outcomes against plans, forecasts, and strategic objectives.

  • Leading interactions with the BU stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities and implement intervention/response plans where gaps to targets are identified.

  • As the face of Finance to the BU, connect business stakeholders with the appropriate people in CBS or wider Finance.  The CBS RTR, PTP and OTC teams take care of all accounting operations.  Control issues are managed by the BU Controller. The FBP is not responsible or accountable for solving accounting (or tax/treasury) issues, but does act as a conduit between the business, external authorities and wider finance team.

  • The CBS FP&A team will prepare annual operating plans (AOP) and forecasts.  The FBP will provide direction on strategic goals, opportunities and risks as well as input on any other strategic or tactical initiatives that the FP&A team are not aware of.  The FBP will also provide assurance of the robustness of the AOP/forecast to the VP Finance.

  • Using the standard financial reports and commentary provided by FP&A, tell the story of the BU performance and provide the “so what” to the business.  The “so what” is how we translate the financial results into actions - what we need to do to close gaps and achieve our growth ambitions and other strategic objectives.

  • Perform adhoc analysis to support storytelling, commercial decisions, business cases, M&A opportunities, and to identify other opportunities and risks for the BU.

  • Test business case assumptions and have the confidence to challenge to the business where those assumptions don’t seem robust or where there are missed opportunities or risks.

  • Review commercial agreements and provide advice for commercial negotiations including pricing.

  • Provide BU performance stories to the Investor Relations team, for use in investor communications.

  • As a senior representative in the finance function with deep knowledge of the business unit, support our finance function to grow together by sharing knowledge, with a particular focus on building commercial acumen within our CBS FP&A team

Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to develop effective relationships and maintain constructive communication across wide spectrum of internal stakeholders in a matrix environment.

  • Ability to see the “big picture”, with attention to detail where necessary.

  • Strong storytelling and networking capabilities

  • Analytical ability to assess complex business cases and commercial agreements.
