Reporting to the VP, External Supply Global Biopharma 2 Lead, the Director, ES Oncology Small Molecule and Packaging Lead will lead the strategic direction and has overall accountability for the supply, business and financial performance of a network of Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) supplying Pfizer Oncology medicines. The Oncology Small Molecule and Packaging Lead will lead his/her team in overseeing the relationship with of a portfolio of CMOs in the small molecule space serving Pfizer’s Oncology therapeutic area. The Oncology Small Molecule and Packaging Lead will interface with Pfizer Global Supply (PGS) matrixed organizations to ensure the sustainable quality, compliant & safe product supply from its network of CMOs.

What You Will Achieve

The incumbent is accountable for providing leadership to a team of Operations Leads covering these activities. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing leadership and direction of the Oncology Small Molecule and Packaging team of Operation Leads that are responsible for managing the product supply from a specialized CMO network.
  • Leading the matrixed Oncology Small Molecule and Packaging Virtual Site Leadership Team (VSLT) to establish the necessary macro-level CMO strategies and network direction for the team, inclusive of overall supply and net income benefit strategies
  • Ensuring the cross-functional oversight management of third party CMOs is followed to overall ES standardization to ensure customer needs are being met through the manufacture and supply of Oncology products
  • Accountable to manage and provide operational and business & contractual relationship oversight for a network of CMOs through the use of Virtual Site Operations Teams (VSOT) & VSLT.
  • Accountable to deliver overall New Product & post deal BD Integration activities for transactions involving 3rd Party CMOs within the BU as required.
  • Responsible for the CMO strategy development that meets short and long-term Business needs working in conjunction with multiple stakeholders. This includes driving sourcing options that provide overall business & wider PGS benefit.
  • Leveraging IMEX, implement governance practices that lead a group of ES Operations Leads & partner functions to deliver on supply, quality and compliance and financial performance of the CMO. This includes ensuring the timely supply, executing product launches to meet customer requirements and driving cost savings initiatives (i.e., Op Ex). This also includes monitoring and implementing corrective actions related to supply performance/Balanced Scorecard targets.
  • Collaborate effectively with a matrix team of functional subject matter experts (SMEs) such as GSC, GTE, EHS, ES Quality, Finance as well as building strong collaboration with peers in the PGS Operational Units to ensure best outcomes for PGS utilizing the internal/external network.
  • Attract, develop, motivate, and coach colleagues to effectively manage through a matrix operations team approach. In doing develop strong technical and business savvy colleagues that provides talent levers for Pfizer and PGS growth.
  • Engage in the preparation of strategic plans within the ES Global Biopharma 2 LT & overall ES LT and lead execution of these plans and overall ES Strategic Pillars accordingly
  • Establishing and ensuring all net income benefit strategies are met to the satisfaction of internal and external auditors.
  • Leading the interface with key global senior internal and external stakeholders (this includes external agencies, communications office, Pfizer leaders, CMO Leaders etc..) relative to supply, audits, enterprise subject matter expertise etc.
  • Interfacing with New Product and Global Launch teams for commercialization transition of new product launches. This includes leveraging the External Supply operating model to ensure the successful transition from launch through commercialization

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bio/Chemical engineering, Bio/chemistry, Biology or a related discipline; Masters or PhD strongly preferred
  • Advanced experience in Drug Product & Packaging operations (internal or external manufacture).
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing environment with ideally 2-3 years in a leadership capacity managing a team
  • Strong and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contract manufacturing models and operations
  • Strong business & financial acumen with manufacturing and supply chain experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to navigate and operate in dynamic, multicultural and matrixed environment
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to:

  • 3+ years negotiating complex agreements in a global business environment

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $169,700.00 to $282,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
