Job Summary:

The Ad Council’s Digital Marketing & CRM team is looking for a Director, Email Marketing who will play a key role in supporting our email marketing initiatives. In this position, you will be responsible for working with key departments to develop and define email marketing strategies and execute email marketing communications on behalf of the Ad Council’s PSA campaigns, brand initiatives and events. This position will report into ­­­­the Vice President, Digital Marketing.

Compensation:

The compensation for this position is within the range of $100,000 – $110,000 annually (based on experience level). The compensation package also includes an annual incentive, comprehensive benefit offerings, and generous paid time off.

What you’ll do:

Email Marketing Management:

  • Oversee all Ad Council email marketing operations and manage email marketing manager(s)
  • Be the “go-to” email marketing expert within the organization
  • Ensure emails and email data collection follow best practices and privacy regulations
  • Collaborate with internal teams on planning & strategy for emails
  • Collaborate with design team to ensure email designs are current and fresh
  • Work with internal teams on development of landing pages and preference centers in order to capture and leverage meaningful data points
  • Manage Email Marketing vendors, including contract negotiations, invoicing, vendor selection, and platform upgrades
  • Monitor email deliverability, stay on top of industry trends and changes, research and implement fixes as needed
  • Provide timely reporting, analysis, and insights to drive email marketing initiatives forward

 Local Media Strategy:

  • Work closely with the VP, Digital Marketing and cross-functional teams to develop local media strategy utilizing email
  • Manage Email Marketing staff, providing ongoing guidance and assisting with career development
  • Work across teams to collect all marketing data across departments and understand marketing performance
  • Help build and implement advanced segmentation and personalization strategies including a Preference Center.
  • Work to capture B2B 1st party data and all potential leads utilizing marketing tools and services
  • Set up marketing tracking mechanisms to capture engagement and account/contact scoring
  • Implement systematic A/B testing to improve email metrics
  • Analyze performance and optimize campaigns using available tools

 Data Management & Analytics:

  • Monitor data quality within email platform
  • Work closely with Salesforce CRM Administrator to ensure CRM database quality and accurate sync between CRM and email platform
  • Set-up and/or sync new fields as needed
  • Implement timely strategies for handling of non-responders, optouts and undeliverables
  • Respond to ongoing requests for database queries and list pulls

 What you bring:

  • Experience & Expertise: 8+ years in email marketing leadership, with deep knowledge of marketing automation platforms (Adobe Marketo Engage) including usage of advanced capabilities such as segmentation, personalization, content building, journey building, trigger campaigns, etc.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with HTML/CSS for email formatting; understanding of data integration across platforms.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Strong grasp of email privacy and compliance regulations (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CASL).
  • Martech Knowledge: A strong grasp of how different systems connect and share data across marketing technology platforms is essential. Experience with Salesforce CRM, Digital Asset Management Systems, Content Management Systems, and SEO is an advantage.
  • Analytical Mindset: Comfortable with data analysis, reporting, and using insights to improve performance.
  • Leadership & Communication: Excellent project management, written communication, and ability to guide and mentor team members. An ability to work under tight deadlines is needed.
