What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Vice President, CBWMC, the Director, Electronic Communications and Strategic Regulatory Programs, is responsible for building, enhancing, and leading cross-team electronic communications oversight program, as well as supporting CBWMC’s strategic regulatory programs, including Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) activities, enabling CIBC to manage and oversee regulatory compliance risks across various CBWMC pillars. The role is primarily accountable for supporting the CBWMC team in relation to CIBC’s Electronic Communications Program to effectively manage regulatory risks and meet or exceed the expectations of our clients, shareholders, and regulators.

How you’ll succeed

  • Program design and implementation – by designing, executing and maintaining an Electronic Communications Oversight program for Compliance.
  • People management – training and overseeing a team of Compliance Officers executing the Electronic Surveillance Oversight Program.
  • Relationship building – supporting CBWMC’s registered Chief Compliance Officers (CCOs) in executing their regulatory oversight accountabilities and ensuring consistent electronic communications-related practices and standards across CBWMC’s various businesses in relation to electronic communications. Also, partnering closely with the Chief Administrative Office teams to ensure alignment in electronic communication programs and execution, including to proactively assess the adequacy of the respective activities and identifying, recommending, and implementing best practices and enhancements.
  • Value-add advice – by remaining current on regulatory developments and industry best practices,  provide value-add advice to stakeholders relating to cross-functional strategic regulatory initiatives.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate knowledge of regulatory requirements for securities registered businesses, with experience applicable to one or more of the retail securities, asset management, and commercial banking businesses that CBWMC oversees, considered is an asset
  • A university degree with 4-5 years of progressively responsible business experience or equivalent.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills to develop insights and interpret findings.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation).
  • Excellent cross-functional project and relationship management skills.
  • Keen sense of curiosity to learn and understand best practices and industry trends.
  • Proven history of working independently with strong problem solving skills to achieve objectives.
  • Proficient computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and eGRC.
  • Knowledge and understanding of CIBC lines of business, products and operations to effectively provide oversight of high quality business standards and business conduct.
