About the Role

In this role, as the Director of SAP Master Data and Governance, you will lead enterprise-wide data governance initiatives. You will play a key role in shaping Harman’s digital transformation journey by ensuring high-quality, trusted master data across SAP S/4HANA, BW/4HANA, and integrated platforms such as Snowflake and SAP Analytics Cloud. This role will also lead a team of 6–10 professionals.

What You Will Do

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define and drive Harman’s enterprise master data strategy in alignment with business and digital transformation goals.

  • Lead SAP MDG implementation and governance across domains (Customer, Vendor, Material, PLM, Finance, etc.).

SAP MDG Expertise:

  • Apply deep knowledge of SAP MDG concepts, including Data Modelling, UI Modelling, Process Modelling, Governance Processes, Mass Processing, DRF (Data Replication Framework), DIF (Data Import Framework), and Data Quality.

  • Configure, design, build, test, and deploy core SAP MDG solutions, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with IT, business units, and global data owners to align data standards and processes.

  • Collaborate with analytics teams to enable trusted data for reporting and insights.

Technology Enablement:

  • Oversee SAP MDG configuration, workflows, and integration with S/4HANA and Snowflake.

  • Evaluate and implement automation and AI/ML tools to enhance data quality and enrichment.

Team Leadership:

  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of data stewards and governance professionals.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • 15+ years of experience in SAP Master Data, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Extensive functional and technical expertise in SAP MDG and master data objects across PLM, SD, Finance, and MM.

  • Proven experience in designing and deploying SAP MDG solutions for global enterprises.

  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and integration with platforms such as S/4HANA, Snowflake, and SAC.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.

  • Certifications in SAP MDG or data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM).

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, SOX) and data privacy standards.

  • Willing to travel up to 5%, both domestically and internationally.

  • Willing to work in an office or hybrid setup in Bangalore, India.
