About the position:

The Head of CMC NY reports directly to the Head of TCF Americas and leads a team of three direct-report relationship managers responsible for managing the existing portfolio and originating new clients and transactions across the US (excluding the Gulf Coast region). The CMC NY team supports commodity traders in energy, metals, and soft commodities, providing tailored financing and advisory solutions. The team oversees substantial exposures and acts as a coverage unit, cross-selling ING’s broader product offering, including DCM, hedging solutions, Sustainable Finance and M&A advisory. It also collaborates actively with other Sector teams such as Energy, Food & Agri, Metals & Mining, and others.

About the department – Trade & Commodity Finance (TCF), Americas:

ING is a global leader in TCF. Our TCF global coverage is organized into two main areas: the Global Merchant Groups (GMG) team, which focuses on traders with multi-location and multi-product strategies, and the Commodity Merchant Companies (CMC) team, which serves clients whose relationships are rooted in specialized lending and benefit from deep product and technical sector expertise. In the Americas, the team supports a diverse range of commodity traders across energy, metals, and soft commodities, providing both financing and advisory services. The TCF Americas franchise includes a GMG team that covers the entire US, as well as two CMC teams: one based in Houston, focusing on the Gulf Coast region, and another in New York City, covering the rest of the US.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead the commercial CMC NY team, managing a dedicated TCF portfolio and overseeing sizeable exposures.
  • Drive client acquisition, originate and execute commodity finance transactions, and expand the CMC NY portfolio.
  • Serve as senior banker for CMC NY clients, shaping relationship strategy and leading client dialogue across ING.
  • Strengthen client relationships through core lending products and cross-sell initiatives with DCM, hedging solutions, Sustainable Finance, M&A advisory, etc.
  • Coordinate with TCF colleagues on global account management and promote cross-buy opportunities across client teams.
  • Organize and lead internal deal teams to support origination efforts and credit/commercial committee submissions.
  • Supervise account planning to optimize resource allocation and portfolio performance in line with KPIs.
  • Track market developments and identify new commercial opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with peer institutions and other banks active in commodity finance.
  • Ensure full KYC and regulatory compliance for all clients in the portfolio.
  • Coach and develop junior talent; execute management responsibilities for direct reports.

Qualifications and Competencies:

Experience/Knowledge:

  • 8–10 years of TCF experience, with a strong track record in client acquisition and relationship management.
  • Deep knowledge of TCF structures, preferably across both US and European markets.
  • Proven ability to originate and execute transactions, with extensive deal experience and market participant insight.
  • Strong commercial skills with demonstrated success in winning new business.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements and risk management practices.
  • Highly skilled in managing complex stakeholder relationships across internal and external networks.
  • Registered Series 79 and 63, or ability to obtain within first year

Salary Range: $250,000 - $300,000
