Under general direction of the VP – Strategic Global Sourcing, Consumer Products this role will drive the successful go-to-market strategy for consumer products, acting as a vital link between manufacturers and customers across diverse channels. This role focuses on ensuring seamless commercialization efforts by fostering collaboration, optimizing product launches, and building partnerships to maximize market impact. Additionally, this role collaborates with the consumer products strategic accounts and category management teams to identify opportunities and drive growth. Through a collaborative effort of multiple stakeholders, the Director, Commercial Excellence will be well positioned to drive top and bottom-line impact to the business.

The role will operate with sufficient independence and creativity in the construction of end-to-end solutions driving mutual financial and / or operational value to our manufacturer partners and downstream customers. This innovation process spans from ideation, narrative development, market pilot tests and implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, Replenishment Operations, and finance, to ensure alignment.

  • Serve as a point of contact between consumer product manufacturers and customers across various channels (e.g., retail, e-commerce, wholesale, health systems, etc.).

  • Facilitate communication to align on product positioning, pricing, promotion, and distribution strategies.

  • Create, implement, execute and continuously improve processes that result in predictable, sustainable and repeatable outcomes, including but not limited to standard operating procedures, systems, cross functional processes, contract life-cycle management, compliance metrics, training / on-boarding and sales & operations (S&OP) planning processes.

  • Lead end-to-end go-to-market planning for new and enhanced solutions across priority verticals, i.e Corporate Partnerships, Independent Retail, Long Term Care, Health Systems, etc.

  • Drive tailored commercialization strategies for multiple channels, ensuring each channel’s unique needs and opportunities are addressed.

  • Stay informed on channel-specific trends and consumer behavior to provide data-driven recommendations.

  • Serve as industry knowledge expert, including market trends to ensure Cencora's voice is heard and is positioned to lead. This includes attendance at industry meetings, regular interaction with key strategic customers, manufacturers and internal stakeholders.

  • Cultivate and maintain on-going partnership with Cencora leaders, maintaining knowledge of Cencora business operations, strategies, priorities and needs, to ensure consistent messaging and compliance, transparency to issues, and to meet stated company initiatives.

  • Develop and monitor key performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed to optimize outcomes.

  • Represent and position Cencora favorably with suppliers and act as an advocate for Cencora interests relative to suppliers' actions and policies.

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders, including manufacturers, distributors, and customers.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to partners, providing guidance on go-to-market strategies and long-term growth opportunities.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline commercialization efforts and enhance efficiency.

  • Leverage technology and tools to improve collaboration, forecasting, and reporting. Manages strategic account relationships with senior management of supplier organizations.

  • Perform related duties as assigned, including special projects and initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. MBA preferred.

  • A minimum of ten (10) years directly related and progressively responsible managerial experience and proven track record for leading cohesive and effective teams.

  • A strong blend of strategic planning, market insights, and relationship management skills to deliver best-in-class results

  • Outstanding knowledge of Consumer / OTC / Private Label product and supplier base, product relationships and pharmaceutical / life sciences industry trends

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiating and stakeholder skills

  • Working knowledge of sales, supply chain management and / or inventory management principles and methodologies

  • Exceptional contract management and project management skills, including the ability to work collaboratively across the organization and manage multiple projects of various diverse scope in a cross-functional environment

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Polished presentation skills

  • Ability to implement processes resulting in satisfactory audit practices

  • Strong computer skills in order to operate effectively with company systems and programs; knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Salary Range*

$124,000 - 190,850

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
