Summary:

-Directs the department's strategic plan, activities and resources to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of the department, organization and service line

Responsibilities:

Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws, regulations and rules (including but not limited to 340B, Joint Commission, Board of Pharmacy, etc.); compliance with all accreditation standards and knowledge of and adherence to all policies and procedures of the organization and department. Maintain strict control over distribution, storage, and usage of controlled substances.Contributes to a learning environment by providing educational and research experiences to students and residents.Assures the ongoing development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of pharmacy services.Directs and coordinates, through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities and functions of hospital pharmacy; Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.Leads and/or serves on a variety of appropriate internal and external committees to represent pharmacy services within the Memorial Healthcare SystemDirects and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, quality management, continuous quality improvement programs, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.Develops and implements departmental goals, strategic plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
