Director, Associate Business Development Manager, Institutional Southeast Asia

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Director, Institutional SEA to join our client group. This individual is expected to build and maintain high quality relationships, generate business leads, win new clients and act as a key person for prospective and existing institutional clients in select SEA markets. They will be responsible for partnering and working closely with internal teams, e.g. investment specialists, investment products & services, marketing, business management and L&C to build and deepen institutional relationships in the region. The role involves extensive travel and is based in Singapore, with a reporting line to the SEA Head of Institutional Business.

Major Responsibilities 

  • Introduce Capital Group, generate new leads, win and build meaningful new client relationships across SEA. Build multi-faceted and multi-level client relationships.

  • Develop sales strategy and account plans for area of coverage and execute effectively.

  • Accurately and effectively articulate Capital Group’s investment services with clients. Develop a broad understanding of both the research and investment management process.

  • Effectively work with key internal partners including senior leaders, client relations, RFP, marketing, product etc. with a client centric focus, within a collaborative team approach.

  • Oversee the end-to-end process from prospecting to onboarding and servicing. Work closely with onboarding operational, L&C, and client servicing teams that are responsible for the execution.

  • Accurately articulate prospects’ needs/concerns/issues to internal teams to build and sharpen internal capabilities.

  • Collaborate closely with other Relationship Managers, Consultant Relations professionals, Investment Specialists, and marketing and client service staff to leverage global efforts and share best practice.

  • Maintain discipline in updating Salesforce.com with call reports and pipeline.

  • At least 10 years of institutional sales experience with a proven track record of cultivating, winning, and maintaining strategic relationships with a long-term mindset; we are looking for a hunter, not a farmer.

  • Deep knowledge of SEA markets and experience working with institutional clients.

  • Affinity with capital markets, investments, and macroeconomics. Strong technical skills and the ability to discuss financial topics with clients.

  • Strategic thinker with analytical mindset, strong business acumen and interest in future trends and new asset classes/solutions. Consultative approach, not a product-led one.

  • Self-motivated, setting ambitious goals for themselves, and a drive to make progress. Intrinsically motivated by developing long-term partnership, uncovering opportunities, and winning new business.

  • Experienced in creating and communicating persuasive, client-centric, and well-structured messages in written and presentation format.

  • Track record of operating effectively within a team-oriented, collaborative organization.

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
