Director - Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning Portfolio Management Systems and Capabilities

Purpose:

The purpose of the Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning Technical Lead role is to execute the broader Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) organizations technical / innovation agenda.  This includes the design, development and delivery of tools and visuals that enhance decision-making, automate routine tasks, and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.  The individual in the role will partner with the Portfolio Management Enablement & Transformation team (PMET), the subject matter experts within the Portfolio Management Systems and Capabilities (PMSC) team, and Tech@Lilly.

1. Design / Development / Testing of Tools and Visualizations

  • In collaboration with PMET, PMSC, and Tech@Lilly, lead the design, development, and delivery of tools and visualizations that align with the PPM organization’s technical / innovation agenda.

  • Identify and escalate project risks, issues, and data quality concerns.

  • Anticipate evolving stakeholder needs and adapt solutions in alignment with strategic initiatives and operational impact.

  • Stay current with emerging tools and technologies to influence strategy and drive innovation.

2. Integration / Ownership of Tools and Visualizations

  • In collaboration with PMET, PMSC, and Tech@Lilly, lead the integration of tools and visualizations into production environments.

  • Leverage business acumen to create effective communication that ensures seamless adoption and long-term usage of tools and visualizations.

  • Own feedback loops and backlog grooming for delivered tools and visualizations and integrate product enhancements into subsequent versions and / or new solutions.

  • Define and manage product releases that align with business processes

3. Leadership:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team by fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

  • Manage the performance and development of the team.

  • Provide regular coaching, feedback, and mentorship to support the technical and professional growth of team members.

  • Collaborate with leadership to align team objectives with broader business strategies and technology roadmaps.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical science, computer science, engineering, statistics, or related field

  • Minimum of 12 years of in-depth hands-on computer science / engineering experience with at least 6 years of experience in machine learning engineering or applied AI techniques.

  • Experience in developing and delivering tools and visualizations that are utilized to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization

  • Expertise with data analysis / visualization applications and languages.  For example, Power Platform (including Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate), MS Fabric, Tableau, Excel, Python, R, R Shiny, AWS, SQL etc.

  • Knowledge of data architecture associated with information integration, data visualization, & data warehousing

  • Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver clear and concise data interpretation and communications

  • Demonstrated ability to work with business owners to define key business requirements and convert to technical specifications

  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in an ambiguous environment.

  • High learning agility

  • Job located in Bengaluru, India

Other Information/Additional Preferences:

  • Higher degrees or certifications

  • Experience with / knowledge of pharmaceutical drug development

  • Experience working with Power Platform, MS Fabric

  • Familiarity with Resource planning & forecasting systems (e.g., Planisware, Veeva suite, etc.)

  • Experience working in different project or code management, methodologies or tools – (Agile, Waterfall etc) coding standards, code reviews, source management (GITHUB), build processes

  • Demonstrated proactive process improvement

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • Domestic and International travel (0-10%) may be required
