Your Impact
Axon is looking for an experienced Direct Tax Technologist – Manager to lead the direct tax technology transformation roadmap, beginning with the implementation of the OneStream tax consolidation platform. You will serve as the internal lead for this project, partnering with an external implementation firm and coordinating across Tax, Finance Controllership, and IT teams. Post go-live, you will drive automation and innovation initiatives across the direct tax lifecycle — leveraging tools like AI, Sigma, and Alteryx to modernize compliance, provision, and planning processes.

Work Location: This role is eligible to be based out of any of Axon's US hub offices (Atlanta, Boston, Sterling VA, Denver, NYC, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle) and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. What You’ll Do
Reports to: VP of Tax, with a strong dotted line to the Senior Director, Global Tax
Implementation Leadership – OneStream Tax Consolidation
Serve as the tax lead for Axon’s OneStream tax consolidation implementation project
Partner with internal direct tax team and external implementation partner to define requirements, design solutions, and ensure timely, effective deployment
Coordinate cross-functional teams (Tax, Controllership, Business Systems, IT) throughout the project lifecycle
Manage historical data preparation, tie-out, and loading from legacy systems into OneStream
Oversee and execute parallel testing to ensure integrity of tax consolidation logic and reporting
Define controls, reconciliation procedures, and documentation for OneStream tax use
Support change management, training, and user adoption across global tax and finance teams
Tax Automation and Innovation (Post-Implementation)
Execute automation opportunities across the direct tax lifecycle: provision, return preparation, reconciliation, audit support, and planning
Lead solution design for process automation leveraging AI, Sigma, Alteryx, and other tools
Collaborate with data engineering and finance systems teams to access and shape required data sources
Build dashboards, analytics, and decision-support tools to enhance visibility into tax positions
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the global tax team, including process documentation, SOX controls, and technology governance
What You Bring
8+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax, tax technology, or tax-focused finance systems roles
Proven experience implementing OneStream or similar consolidation software (e.g., Hyperion, OneSource Tax Provision), with a focus on tax reporting and analytics
Deep understanding of U.S. federal direct tax compliance, tax provision (ASC 740), interim reporting, and corporate tax reporting
Experience with large-scale system implementations, including historical data loading, testing, training, and post-go-live support
Familiarity with analytics, automation, and AI tools (e.g., Sigma, Alteryx, Power BI, and GPT platforms)
Strong project management, stakeholder alignment, and vendor oversight capabilities
High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Ability to operate in a high-growth, fast-paced, and collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in-house at a public company or Big 4 tax technology advisory
Working knowledge of SOX controls and audit readiness as applied to tax processes
Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD $100,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD $143,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
