Job Description:

Summary:

The Digital Content Creator is responsible for collaborating on innovative social media strategies to engage target audiences, documenting university events through photography and video, and researching social media trends to inform content creation. Monitors post engagement, ensures consistent tone across platforms, and supports content calendar management while providing feedback on social media tools. Performs additional related tasks as needed.

Essential Functions

  •  Work with the UCM social media manager to contribute to the development of an innovative social media content strategy for American University’s main social media accounts from concept to creation, which focuses on key enrollment initiatives and engagement with target audiences.
  •  Attend university events and programs to document through video and photography; support the creation of academic, student support, mini mic, trendy, and other content.  
  • Research trends and engagement strategies within social media platforms; gather feedback from students and other university community members to inform content strategy.
  • Monitor engagement of social media posts within platforms; provide feedback on adjusting strategy as needed. Help create a consistent tone and voice for social media outlets.
  • Add to the university’s social media directory and social media content calendar; provide feedback on commencement toolkits and social media documents that will assist unit-managed accounts with content creation.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • Federal Work Study (FWS).
  • 10 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $17.95 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  •   High school diploma or equivalent.
  •   Less than 1 year of relevant experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  •   1-3 years of relevant experience.
