Position Summary:

Reporting to the Communications Manager, in collaboration with stakeholders, the Digital Communications Associate builds and maintains core Campus/Faculty/Departmental websites, newsletters, and content storage/archiving sites. The incumbent is also responsible for adapting and sharing web content (primarily channel news and events) with internal and external audiences on a range of platforms.  Acts as designated resource to unit-level web administrators.  Monitors, reviews, collects analytics, and optimizes digital platforms to improve user satisfaction.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as a digital communications knowledgeable resource for Macdonald Campus faculty and staff.    Provide Macdonald Campus website/social media administrators with the support they need to implement best practices and optimize their content.  May include delivering individual/group training and coaching sessions.
  • Perform audits of web usability, content performance, and compliance with branding standards and other guidelines (accessibility, translation, SEO, etc.) and work with stakeholders to continually improve sites.
  • Collect content requirements, assess specifications, and plan work on new and existing sites through consultation with clients.
  • Build and refine site layouts.
  • Create, revise, and/or optimize content for user comprehension and search referencing.
  • Perform regular updates to the sites.
  • Adapt news and event content for different platforms, channels, and audiences.
  • Participate in the development of procedures to increase web usability and overall content reach based on audits, tests, and analytics.
  • Assist in the development of advertising campaigns for faculty priorities.
  • Produce multimedia content (videos, digital publications, infographics, advertising, social media posts and event materials).
  • Stay abreast of latest digital standards and best practices in line with university standards
  • Archive digital content to ensure that institutional milestones and news are accessible and preserved.
  • Participate in the development of communication plans and content calendars (social media).
