We are seeking an experienced DevSecOps Engineer (Principal / Sr Principal Engineer DevOps) to join our dynamic team of technical professionals. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems support team in San Antonio, TX.
Please be aware that this position will be contingent upon capturing program award, obtaining customer funding, and holding final clearances prior to start date.*
What you'll get to do:
- Data Architecture & Modeling – Design scalable data mining pipelines, establish protocols for data ingestion, cleaning, transformation, and storage. Evolve models to capture long‑term trends and support real‑time analytics.
- Statistical Insight – Perform exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing, and advanced statistical modeling to identify key drivers and associations within heterogeneous data sources.
- Visualization & Reporting – Create interactive dashboards and reports using modern BI and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Plotly) to communicate insights to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Partner with engineering, operations, and business units to define problem statements, translate requirements into analytical solutions, and integrate findings into product roadmaps.
- Innovation & Knowledge Leadership – Stay abreast of cutting‑edge data science methodologies (e.g., deep learning, reinforcement learning) and evaluate their relevance to defense contexts. Mentor teams and promote a culture of data‑driven decision making.
- Governance & Quality – Establish data governance standards, data quality metrics, and reproducibility practices across the analytics lifecycle.
This position can be filled at the Principal or the Sr. Principal Level.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Cyber Systems Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in related STEM discipline with 5 years of experience; Master’s degree related in STEM discipline with 3 years of experience; PhD in related STEM discipline with 1 year of experience in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. Citizenship required
- A current/active DoD Top Secret w/ SCI eligibility
- Expertise in statistical modeling (regression, classification, time series) and machine learning (supervised/unsupervised)
- Proficient in Python/R, SQL, and big‑data frameworks (Spark, Hadoop)
- Strong data wrangling and feature engineering abilities
- Advanced visualization and storytelling with libraries like Matplotlib, Seaborn, D3.js
- Familiarity with cloud analytics platforms (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, GCP AI Platform)
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in related STEM discipline with 8 years of experience; Master’s degree related in STEM discipline with 6 years of experience; PhD in related STEM discipline with 4 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. Citizenship required
- A current/active DoD Top Secret w/ SCI eligibility

- Working knowledge of Cybersecurity technologies, NIST standards, and RMF governance
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Proven ability to influence and drive adoption of best practices across teams

Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
