About the role
Assist the Social Work Manager in providing a high level of leadership and management of the Social Work Department to ensure services are delivered in a timely manner meeting quality and safety standards within the allocated budget.
In consultation with the Social Work Manager and Social Work staff, develop, deliver and evaluate professional development programs, clinical skills development programs and staff orientation programs.
Provide a social work service in a nominated area consistent with service demands and professional standards as defined by the Australian Association of Social Workers.
In conjunction with the Social Work Head of Department, responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of all human, financial and physical resources for Social Work services across St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney Acute and Sub-Acute Streams and professional governance for Social Work staff across St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney Community and Inner City Health services.
The Social Work Deputy and Professional Educator facilitates clinical supervision, learning and professional development for social workers and support staff at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and as required across the St Vincent’s Health Network.
The Social Work Deputy and Professional Educator is also responsible for the discipline-specific clinical supervision, teaching and coordination of educational activities for students on clinical placements within St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and to promote and facilitate social work field education across St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney.
About you
Qualifications in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers with extensive clinical skills and experience in social work in tertiary health care.
Demonstrated skills and experience in leadership and management including supervision of senior staff and other health professionals with the ability to provide high level advice, consultation and education to enhance excellence in social work service delivery.
Advanced knowledge of social work theory and practice with demonstrated commitment to ongoing education and professional development in Social Work. Post graduate qualifications in Social Work and / or Adult education.
Demonstrated experience and skills in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of education programs, research projects and quality improvement initiatives for social workers and health professionals.
Experience in planning, promoting, co-ordinating and evaluating social work field education including liaison with Universities and utilisation of ClinConnect
Ability to lead and contribute to clinical planning, research projects and continuous quality improvement activities within social work services.
Highly developed oral, computer and written communication skills with demonstrated experience in presentations, project management, report writing, policy and procedures, negotiation and effective time management skills with a commitment to clinical team building.
