Job Summary: This position is located at Office of the Director for Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives and bonuses will not be paid.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as a full Deputy to the Director, Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) for a large/mega large garrison by performing a variety of duties of all matters pertaining to the Directorate.
  • Reviews program changes and discusses changes in goals and objectives with activity managers and supervisors, ensuring objectives and goals are attainable and economically feasible.
  • Represents the Director in all matters including the coordination of programs and activities within and outside the directorate.
  • As Deputy Director, the incumbent must analyze, investigate, and resolve or provide recommendations to address a wide variety of difficult problems, questions, or conditions associated with overall DFMWR operations.
  • As Deputy Director, the incumbent must design projects or studies, and to formulate short or long range plans and recommendations with potential impact on communities external to DFMWR. May perform other duties as assigned.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Managerial work experience and executive knowledge and ability of the caliber described above. In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Within the last three (3) years, demonstrated experience in leading, developing, and coordinating multiple DFMWR operations at the Directorate/ Division/Branch level (Garrison/Region/Headquarters) - AND/OR - Possess at least three (3) years of work experience as a DoD Military Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Programs Professional at the NF-05/GS13 equivalent or higher level (e.g., Deputy Force Support Squadron, Child and Youth Services Coordinator, NAF Support Manager, Business Operations Officer, Army Community Services Director, Community Services Flight Chief). Within the last three (3) years, proven expertise and strong understanding of strategic planning, program development, social services, inter-governmental and non-profit operations, and partnerships. Within the last three (3) years displayed experience with Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) budget planning and execution to include Capital Purchase and Minor Construction and/or MILCON.
