The 5th Judicial District of Pennsylvania is seeking a Deputy Court Administrator, Family Division, Juvenile & Dependency Sections. This is a management position responsible for developing and managing all policies and personnel related to the operation of the Juvenile Probation Department. Additionally, the incumbent will provide oversight of all dependency-related matters; coordinate cross-system issues involving cases concurrently active in both delinquency and dependency; direct the scheduling of all delinquent and dependency hearings; and supervise court scheduling operations and court clerk personnel. The position reports to the District Court Administrator.
Typical Duties:
Plans and conducts regular meetings with the Family Division Administrative Judge to update, discuss, review, and make recommendations regarding Court business, issues, and programs.
Participates in weekly meetings with Assistant Administrators to evaluate long and short-term goals and objectives, analyze new and existing projects, and monitor the progress and impact of the BARJ philosophy throughout the organization.
Plans, monitors, and reviews Juvenile Court fiscal decisions and budget allocations (operational and placement) within a $40M budget.
Researches and makes appropriate recommendations and prepares and presents reports regarding Juvenile Court activities.
Identifies gaps in treatment services and secures programs to fill the needs.
Reviews practices of staff to ensure compliance within the scope of professional standards and ethical guidelines.
Oversight of human resources related activities such as monitoring activities of administrators and supervisors through monthly review meetings; directing probation department, CISP, and clerical supervisors; participating in interviewing and hiring activities for supervisory positions; and conducting disciplinary meetings as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Judicial, Business, or Public Administration, or a closely related field; AND
Five years of professional-level experience in court management or eight years of varied office management work, including professional-level experience in budgeting, procurement, and human resources management.
An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered.

Extensive knowledge of the juvenile court environments.
A high degree of leadership, administrative and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with judges, court staff, court users, and external agencies.
Satisfactory criminal background check required.
