Job Description:

Huntsman has an opportunity for a Day Shift Manager to join our dedicated team at our Wilton Site, within the Polyurethanes division.

The purpose of this role is to drive and own world class Safe Systems of Work processes, contributing to a safe and efficient organisation.  In addition, this role will ensure that Associates are competent to meet current and future job requirements; managing the process of learning.

Huntsman is one of the world’s leading suppliers of materials and technology for Polyurethanes. Huntsman Polyurethanes, Wilton operates a COMAH regulated Nitrobenzene and Aniline facility. This Aniline is used predominately in the production of MDI by Huntsman in Europe.

As the Day Shift Manager, you will:

  • Develop a high performing Safe Systems of Work organisation and a culture that maximises the contribution of the team to the achievement of Huntsman Polyurethanes business performance targets.
  • To issue Hot Work and Class A Entry Permits while supporting and continuously driving improvement within the control and maintenance of all Safe System of Work activities.
  • To assist with the auditing, monitoring and updating of shutdown procedures, isolation procedures, job and safety analyses and start up check sheets.
  • To influence and support a multi-disciplined Process Technicians Team ensuring Maintenance of safe working conditions for all personnel on site, as well as ensuring that production activities do not adversely affect the local community and environment.
  • To lead process isolation requirement definition and execution during Planned Maintenance events.
  • Execute the Shift Manager role, on shift, where required in order to facilitate absence cover.
  • To formulate and manage the areas Training and Development plan, in line with the site strategy.
  • Manage systems for provision of training and development, including needs analysis, structured training programmes, individual training and development reviews and auditing to ensure training requirements are delivered to the agreed standards.
  • Act as the link to the Centre of Expertise for Talent and Organisational Development, making best use of central resources in the development of Associates.
  • Predominantly work on a day shift, however some flexibility in working other shifts and weekends on an occasional basis will be required to support training and operational requirements.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum HNC in appropriate technical discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in Safe Systems of Work within the chemical industry (or other highly regulated industry).
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to influence others within a multi-shift site environment.
  • High personal standards, strong people skills and personal conviction.
  • Proven ability and passion to develop others utilising initiative.
  • Demonstrable experience in handling change.
