Database Administrator (DBA) I
Position Summary
The Database Administrator will support our on-prem and cloud-based database environments as part of the Data Team. This position will be responsible for developing database standards and processes as well as the ongoing support and administration of database instances. This team member will be responsible for performing database change management, optimizing server and query performance, monitoring critical database metrics, and troubleshooting production issues. Clayton currently utilizes three database platforms: IBM DB2 iSeries, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL, and Clayton maintains databases on-prem, off-site, and in the cloud. The DBA I will support one of data storage platforms that Clayton uses with guidance and mentoring provided by higher level DBAs.
About The Team
Database Administrators will work on the Data Team within the Enterprise Technology Operations (ETO) department. The Data Team supports the application development teams and works very closely with Security and the other ETO teams. Team members collaborate on projects with the various business units and are encouraged to contrive their own ideas for continuous improvement. The Data Team strives to be a strategic business partner that ensures data performance, reliability, security, while providing excellent customer service.

Primary Qualifications
A basic understanding of a database platform architecture.
Knowledge of relational database concepts and normalization
Understanding the properties and functions of database objects for a given platform
Basic understanding of philosophy of “data as an asset”
Possess the ability to clearly communicate technical ideas and instructions to peers, supervisors, and customers.
Be committed to providing internal and external customers with excellent service by understanding the needs of the customers and the business
Demonstrate self-discipline, accountability, unquestionable ethics, and impeccable integrity; honor commitments and exceed expectations
Desired Skills
Proficiency in developing stored procedures, views, user-defined functions, and triggers.
Experience monitoring and maintaining database health and security
Capable of performing database change management as well as performance tuning
Proficiency using database monitoring and administration tools
Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
Strong ability to work effectively within time constraints, changing priorities, and independently.
