Mastercard’s Data Science team is responsible for data research and development, designing and building prototypes to support various product development and innovation. As a Data Science team member, you will support our team in delivering development of advanced technologies and data-driven applications that protect digital transactions for our clients. Your experience will enhance both your technical and business skills that contribute to the company's goals and objectives.

While specific responsibilities will vary, you will have exciting and challenging opportunities to:
· Analyze complex and high-volume data. Identify key regularities, patterns and trends.
· Prototype and develop algorithms/machine learning models.
· Spot new opportunities in data collection, feature creation, feature selection, model tuning and evaluation practices. Take those ideas from first concepts to live product integrations.
· Innovate on product ideas to solve new business use-cases.
· Leverage new research in data modelling to identify opportunities, pioneering algorithms and systems that become key commercial products.
· Help maintain model development pipelines, libraries and machine learning infrastructure.
· Define performance key indicators and implement effective monitoring and benchmarking for algorithm/model comparison.
· Access to networking and mentorship from senior leads
· Participate in volunteer and team building.

All About You:

· Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program majoring in data science, statistics/mathematics, computer science/engineering, or quantitative science like physics, economic or engineering.
· Ability to read Data Science or Advanced ML research papers and being able to build prototypes using open sourced frameworks and the ability to apply a factor of scale to the very problem.
· A strong problem solver with critical thinking skills who can formulate a problem into solution.
· Exposure to algorithm, data structures and core data science/data analysis concepts.
· Experienced working with large data sets.
· Statistically adept. You have the depth of knowledge required to identify appropriate techniques and validate solutions.
· Knowledge of coding languages and machine learning tools. Python preferred. \
· Knowledge of cloud service (i.e. AWS. Google Cloud etc.) is an asset
· An effective communicator in visual, verbal and spoken channels, able to identify a narrative in complex data and convey clear, actionable findings to different types of audiences.
· Experience or interest in working with PySpark is a plus

Salary - CAD $100,000 Annually + Sign On Bonus
