Position: Data Product Manager, Analytics

The Team:
The Hiscox USA Data Value Stream creates various data products and intelligent automations to improve our company’s operational efficiency, ensure quality reporting, and provide key insights that fuels Hiscox USA’s ability to drive profitable growth. We utilize an agile, value-stream-based delivery model with numerous scrum teams aligned to business and/or architectural objectives. We are currently on a journey to complete our transition to modernized data & analytics platforms while continuing to meet our internal and external stakeholders’ needs as the market and technology continues to evolve.
About You:
You’ll be a Product Manager with experience engaging with stakeholders, engineers, and business intelligence teams to assist with identifying and defining curated data elements and visualizations to support all users with reporting needs in the enterprise. We are looking for someone who is business savvy and collaborative, someone who enjoys working with business sponsors, source system teams, analytics engineers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to plan and execute analysis activities to deliver valuable outcomes for the business.
You’ll have 5-8 years’ experience in the Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance industry. This role will be critical in the advancement of our analytics landscape which consists of curated tables in Databricks, a self-serve semantic model in Power BI, enterprise reporting in Power BI, and enabling business units with their own Power BI workspaces to support their non-enterprise level needs.
You’ll have a dedicated scrum team with a mix of data engineers and quality engineers. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a range of projects and value stream outcomes related to our portfolio of needs for analytics and insights that will drive our business towards more data driven decision making.
Our projects can be driven by process improvement, integration with third-party systems, and providing insights that support many of our company’s strategic initiatives. The outputs of the projects can vary from large scale system delivery and upgrades to smaller, tactical solutions that open up business opportunities.
What You’ll Do:
Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
Build a strong understanding of end-to-end user journeys & processes, their supporting technologies & data outputs
Accurately and efficiently elicit, challenge, and document scope, processes & requirements while bringing the end user/s along the change journey
Produce high quality business and technical analysis deliverables, including but not limited to, user stories, functional and non-functional specifications, ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ process models
Ensure traceability of requirements and user stories throughout the entire change lifecycle
Apply product management best practices and insights that challenge the business to think about the “right” solution
Data Product Management:
Own the plan, delivery, and communications of the 3-month (quarterly) roadmaps as new opportunities are assigned to our analytics teams.
Develop, document and maintain business requirements for any analytics use case.
Partner with stakeholders to review and update requirements to reflect contractual changes and market changes
Collaborate with data engineers and source system teams to identify and/or implement new data points in our data warehouse that are required to meet the needs of any analytics use case.
Validates data and signs off on new data elements added to the self-serve models within test environments to confirm application accuracy, functionality and EDM Standards are met
Manages data related incidents and identifies, communicates, and resolves or escalates issues as needed. Data inquiries include questions related to data issues, availability of data, and potential alternatives to source data
Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration:
Build relationships and trust with senior stakeholders, understanding goals, objectives and desired outcomes, and bringing them on the journey of engagement
Maintain a close working relationship with partners in operations, technology, and the business.
Meet with stakeholders across the US business unit and group analytics team to understand their data needs and pain points.
Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and vice versa
Our Must Haves:
Minimum 5 years of experience operating as a Product Manager or Product Owner with P&C industry experience
Business Analyst experience considered
Familiarity with insurance policy administration systems, data warehouses, semantic models, and visualizations.
Power BI experience preferred
Proven experience of eliciting requirements, documenting and delivering high quality business analysis deliverables
Ability to facilitate a team to consensus on scope, design decisions, and implementation decisions
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities skills needed to triage data quality issues and perform complex data analysis
Hands-on experience querying and analyzing large sets of data using SQL (data warehouses are Oracle, SSMS, and Databricks)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be creative, and be able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously
Experience of translating business requirements into technical design, supported by development teams
Experience documenting user journeys
Experience documenting system workflows
Experience using Business Analysis tools, techniques and methodologies in a mix of delivery frameworks – including Agile
Experience working with cross-functional agile teams and making prioritization and roadmap recommendations
Ability to build strong working relationships across the business, technology and third-party software houses and/or technology providers
Outstanding verbal and non-verbal communication skills
Evidence of applying “soft” influencing, persuasion and consultancy skills that will influence scope & design, helping to ensure the project outcomes move the business forward towards the strategic ambition

Salary Range: $100k – 130k
The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
**Please note that this position is hybrid and requires two (2) days in our Atlanta (Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area) office weekly**
