Get To Know The Role
1. Data Model Design and Development
Design & Create Models: Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models using industry-standard modeling techniques (e.g., Relational, Dimensional).
Dimensional Modeling: Expertise in dimensional modeling techniques (e.g., Star Schema, Snowflake Schema) for Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence initiatives.
Normalization: Apply appropriate normalization and denormalization strategies to balance performance and data integrity for different usage.
Database: Translate physical models into optimized database designs (DDL scripts) and ensure performance tuning.
Best Practices: Ensure models adhere to the bank's standards, conventions, and best practices.
2. Business Requirements Translation
Liaison: Collaborate with Business, Backend Development and respective teams to understand and document business needs and data requirements, source data and logic.
Data Analysis: Conduct data profiling and source system analysis to understand data structures, quality, and relationships.
Mapping: Create data mapping specifications from source tables to target models for Data Engineering team to build the end to end pipelines.
3. Tool Management
Workflow Management (Jira): Utilize and manage Jira boards and tickets to document, monitor, and track all stages of the request lifecycle—from initial user requests and requirement gathering to design, development, UAT, review & sign off, and final deployment.
Modeling Tools: Utilize and manage professional data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, PowerDesigner, etc) for model creation and repository maintenance.
Technology Evaluation: Stay current with emerging database technologies (e.g., cloud databases) and data modeling trends.
