About the Role

Our mission at LendingClub is to empower those who strive to achieve better financial health. The Big Data and Analytics Platform team plays a crucial role in achieving our mission. We are seeking a Data and Analytics Platform Architect to lead design and development of our modern data and analytics stack.

You will have the opportunity to understand all data and analytics use cases across all of Lending Club business teams and help them derive value from data and analytics stack. You will enable the journey to leverage the leading edge analytics, data architecture, data modelling, warehousing, and GenAI across all business units. You will be the technical lead to enable LendingClub to fulfil our vision to become a data driven company.

What You'll Do

  • Drive strategic architectural decisions and align the data platform with broader tech. strategies and business objectives
  • Ensure LendingClub's modern data and analytics stack meets business needs, evangelize the stack and helps them adopt this stack
  • Design, build, and implement the overall architecture for cloud-based data platforms by leveraging modern data stack tooling
  • Develop architectural patterns for data pipelines, warehouses, and integrations.
  • Create frameworks for data quality monitoring and alerting
  • Ensure that the modern data and analytics stack is kept updated with features and technologies needed to fulfil our vision to be a data driven company
  • Lead Proofs of Concept (POCs) and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) to explore and implement new technologies and methodologies
  • Lead the design of data modeling across entire data flow from upstream databases to the consumption layer, including ad-hoc analysis, reports, feeds, and dashboards
  • Develop execution roadmaps and provide accurate cost/time estimates for data initiatives
  • Solve complex technical challenges related to data scalability and performance.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements to achieve automation, data processing optimization, reduction of cost and improvement in time to delivery of products and their features
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including the Business, Product, Program and Engineering teams to deliver required data products in time with high quality at reasonable cost
  • Drive scale, quality, and governance aspects of the modern stack to ensure all operational aspects are taken care of
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including GenAI and automation platforms, data and analytics eco-system, to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage

About You

  • 12+ years of experience, leading the design and delivery of innovative data and analytics solutions that power LendingClub’s data-driven future

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent work experience

  • 10+ years of experience with cutting-edge big data and analytics technologies and 7+ years working with large-scale OLTP and OLAP systems

  • Architect modern, cloud-based data platforms (10+ years with public cloud; AWS preferred) and deliver scalable, operational data products

  • 5+ years of experience in machine learning (including 1+ year in GenAI) advancing intelligent, data-driven capabilities across the business

  • Deep expertise in the Spark ecosystem (7+ years) and platforms like Databricks or Snowflake; experience with Hive and Kafka is a plus

  • Champion Agile best practices, test-driven development, and automation (5+ years of experience) to drive quality and speed

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing strong technical leadership and fostering innovation, collaboration, and accountability

  • Curiosity, empathy, and a passion for data—delivering simple, elegant solutions that make a measurable impact

Work Location
San Francisco

The above locations are eligible offices for this role. The locations have been determined to foster in-person collaboration with this role’s team or the related business lines. We utilize a hybrid work model, and our teams are in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. In-person attendance is essential for this role’s success, and remote placement will not be considered. LendingClub offers relocation, based on actual job level.

Time Zone Requirements
Primarily PT

While the position will primarily work local hours, LendingClub is headquartered in Pacific Time and our ideal candidate will be flexible working across time zones when necessary.

Travel Requirements
As needed travel to LendingClub offices and/or other locations, as needed.

Compensation
The target base salary range for this position is 210,000-247,000. The base salary of the role will be determined by job-related knowledge, experience, education, skills, and location. Base salary is just one part of LendingClub’s Total Rewards package. You may also be eligible for long-term awards (equity) and an annual bonus (which is based on company performance, employee performance and eligible earnings).
