Customer Journey Expert - Universal IV - Data Engineer

Purpose of the Job

The Tribe Corporate Customer Data Management (CCDM) is at the forefront of understanding and optimizing the customer data-related journeys for Wholesale Banking (WB). By analyzing customer data, we uncover insights that help us enhance every touchpoint along the customer journey and improve and enrich our customer data along the way. Our team is passionate about customer data and driven to create meaningful improvements that impact every customer journey across Wholesale Banking. 

 Our tribe’s purpose is to transform WB from a product to a customer centric digital organization, with one core customer view (for organization, hierarchy, agreement references, associated individuals, and mandates) and consequently maximize the possibilities of self-servicing in processes for corporate customers.

 The tribe CCDM is a relatively new organization. There will be several challenges to overcome:

  • Improve the data quality of corporate customer data
  • Security and compliance across customer journeys and IT assets
  • Stakeholder alignment to deliver and support the delivery of One Wholesale Bank experience through all WB locations surrounding customer data journeys
  • Engaging business stakeholders with best-in-class journeys and undisputed data quality/ownership
  • Strategic development upon target technology

Role and Responsibilities

Your responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the development of entity matching as a service (EmaaS) pipeline
  • Contributing to the model development of advanced analytical models
  • Cooperate with stakeholders across different countries within the bank, provide analytical advice and support, whenever required.
  • Contributing to our Pyspark data quality framework to improve bankwide used customer data

Your Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of total work experience with established and proven data & analytics skills, having been in a Data Engineer or similar role for at least 3 years.
  • Experienced Python programmer, very familiar with modules pandas, pyspark, sklearn, numpy.
  • Experienced in writing complex SQL statements
  • Experienced with Airflow or a similar pipeline orchestration tool

  • Ability to identify problems, analyzing key information and making connections, to find appropriate solutions.
  • Familiar with statistical inference (e.g., predictive analytics, clustering)
  • Proactive, with can-do attitude and positive mindset.
  • Ability to clearly express ideas and opinions, present results of the analysis to non-technical stakeholders.
  • An automation mindset, with a demonstrated ability to automate repetitive tasks and streamline processes into both automated pipelines and manual process flows.
  • A keen interest and forward-thinking vision regarding recent trends in software development and technology, enabling you to anticipate and adapt to industry advancements effectively.
  • Explore and scout for data to find new patterns and opportunities to serve our customer, commercial, regulatory and data management use-cases
  • Fluent in English speaking and writing.

You'll get extra points for:

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodology, including the team backlog, reviews and all related ceremonies (Kanban/SCRUM).
  • Base understanding of Machine learning algorithms and techniques such as LLM’s, vectorization, classification.
  • Google Cloud Platform experience in large organizations.
  • Experience with Polars.

Information about the squad:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medior/Senior Data Engineer to join team within Corporate Customer Data Management department. In this role you will be supporting the Team to build (either pipeline or manual triggered) models that will improve the data quality and data completeness of ING. You will be working hands-on on data engineering tasks and supporting our data scientist with the model development.
