About the Role

We are looking for a Creative Director to help us envision and deliver a cohesive, compelling, engaging, and distinctive brand strategy for our products — from creative concepts to launched products.

In this role you will own the ideation and creation of creative concepts spanning a significant portion of the customer journey. This includes landing pages, design language for product discovery and purchase funnels, brand moments, lifecycle marketing, and post purchase experiences. Your role will elevate storytelling through visuals, motion graphics, photography, illustration, typography and more. You will lead a small but mighty team of creatives. You’ll champion intentional, intuitive, and engaging design, compelling storytelling, strategic experimentation, and measurable business impact.

Our user journey is heavily narrative, story-telling, and craft driven. As such you will have a key role in shaping how Ethos grows — and will help make Ethos the most trusted, modern, and appealing life insurance experience in the world.

This role combines strategic vision, team and resource management, with hands-on design excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define and evolve the creative vision for how the company’s brand is expressed through its digital product, customer experience, and design systems.
  • Lead creative direction for our product and lifecycle journeys — covering landing experiences, life-cycle marketing, product discovery and application flows, and policy management.
  • Collaborate with Product Design and Product Management to ensure the company’s identity, tone, and emotion are consistently reflected in every product interaction, from UI to motion to storytelling moments.
  • Partner with Marketing and Brand teams to maintain cohesion between campaign storytelling and the in-product experience.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership to align product aesthetics with company strategy and values.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow (as necessary) a small but mighty team of creatives. Bring in design specialists to support the vision as needed.
  • Push creative innovation across the design practice — exploring new ways to bring the brand to life through design systems, visual craft, illustration, animation, motion, graphics, photography, typography, microinteractions and more.
  • Contribute to create an environment of excellence and growth where team members can do their best work and grow professionally and personally.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in design, art direction, or creative leadership, with a strong track record of shaping digital products and brand systems, and several years leading multi-person design teams.
  • Proven ability to design visually striking, emotionally resonant, and intuitive experiences that deliver compelling narratives for b2c journeys. Ideally within industries that involve complex decisions such as fintech, healthtech, or insurtech.
  • Proven ability to own a portfolio of surfaces, managing priorities for a small team.
  • Demonstrated experience turning ambiguity into clarity — structuring complex information and simplifying it into elegant, actionable flows.
  • Skilled at team and stakeholder communication — you make design rationale clear and compelling.
  • A track record of positive impact to quality, craft and design culture.
  • A portfolio showcasing breakthrough creative work showcasing strong storytelling craft for b2c products that connects brand and products seamlessly
