Overview
The Global Brand Strategy & Insights team is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Creative and Content Strategist, Manager to help shape Mastercard’s brand strategy and customer storytelling. This role sits at the intersection of cultural insight, research, and storytelling—fueling innovation and thought leadership across the business.
In this role, you will be the go-to expert connecting cultural intelligence and consumer insights to our products and services – helping the organization spot new opportunities, stay ahead of change and create meaningful value for both our business and our customers. You will leverage intel from strategic research initiatives and case studies to develop high-impact narratives that inspire front-end innovation. The ideal candidate is deeply curious about people and culture, with a talent for translating cultural and consumer insights into actionable stories and strategies. You are grounded in research, creative strategy and multi-media storytelling that informs and inspires. Building compelling narratives and presentations energizes you, and you thrive in a fast-paced environment. You are tech-savvy and highly AI-literate, with a strong commitment to staying ahead of emerging technologies and digital trends. Role:
In this role you will be responsible for:
Content & Cultural Strategy
• Translate cultural trends and strategic insights into meaningful, actionable perspectives that inform brand strategy and customer storytelling
• Connect the dots between external trends, consumer insights and Mastercard offerings to identify new opportunities for growth and innovation
• Stay attuned to cultural shifts, consumer behaviors and marketplace dynamics that influence people and brands
• Keep a pulse on the future of marketing, identifying how brands are evolving and how our brand can lead in that evolution
• Craft or guide the development of bold, creative stories – partnering with internal teams and external vendors
Writing Break-through Creative Briefs
• Lead and inform the development of breakthrough creative briefs for B2C, B2B and B2G audiences – ensuring each brief is grounded in meaningful insights
• Elevate briefs by infusing cultural, behavioral and market context to guide creative and strategic execution
Dynamic and Strategic Storytelling
• Develop and guide the creation of compelling, high impact narratives using multimedia formats – including video, interactive tools, AI-driven storytelling platforms etc.
• Create modular, insight-driven presentations tailored for different audiences such as customers (merchants, issuers, digital partners) and various internal audiences
• Develop a repository of marketing platform case studies to be leveraged in customer presentations
Insight Integration
• Leverage a variety of intelligence from our insights team —primary research, syndicated tools, market trends —to answer business questions and shape strategy
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, comms, product, business development) to identify knowledge gaps, formulate hypotheses to inform research opportunities
Thought Leadership & Managing Content Creation Partnerships
• Support and lead the development of thought leadership materials (e.g., newsletters, editorial content) that showcase Mastercard’s expertise
• “Sweat the assets” by working with vendors that translate research findings into engaging, high visibility assets (e.g. social content, presentations) to extend the impact of insights externally
• Own and manage creative briefs, ensuring alignment with brand and business priorities
Project Management & Communication
• Track and manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables
All About You
The ideal candidate for this position should have:
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
• Proven expertise as a creative & content strategist, with experience translating insights and trends into brand and marketing strategies
• A deep curiosity about culture, people and emerging trends
• Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with a talent for translating insights into compelling narratives and influence stakeholders across various levels
• Experience in content strategy, editorial writing or brand storytelling
• Proven track record on delivering persuasive and engaging presentations
• Familiarity with a variety of research methods
• Comfort working with various multi-media storytelling tools (videos, interactive tools, AI)
• Tech savvy and AI curious – embracing new tools and technologies to elevate storytelling and content creation
• Be a team player, who thrives on working collaboratively
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment, and a willingness to experiment with new approaches
• Have high self-initiative and accountability, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver on time
• Global mindset and cultural fluency – experience working across diverse markets and geographies is a plus

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.
