TEACHING QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
PHYS 559 is an advanced course in statistical mechanics, covering topics such as scattering and structure factors; review of thermodynamics and statistical mechanics; correlation functions (static); mean field theory; critical phenomena; broken symmetry; fluctuations, roughening.
Applicants should have: Expertise in content area of the course. Previous experience as an instructor or teaching assistant at the university-level. Evidence of teaching excellence, e.g. McGill PHYS Course Evaluations (as Instructor or Assistant). Ph.D. candidates applying must state qualifications and teaching experience.
