Our Country Medical Director (CMD) drives scientific, medical and clinical excellence and innovation through strategic leadership, strong cross-functional interactions and continuous engagement with the scientific community and key health care ecosystem stakeholders. In this role you ensure medical compliance and superior patient outcomes while fostering a high performance culture and continuous professional development of the Medical team.
Key Responsibilities:
As part of the affiliate leadership team the CMD has a shared responsibility for the affiliate enterprise strategy, short, mid and long term outcomes, prioritization and adequate resourcing as well as impactful delivery of the agreed business objectives
Plan and execute the overall medical strategy for Roche Austria as part of the portfolio commercialization efforts - built from fit for purpose evidence generation, value demonstration, scientific data positioning and dissemination whilst maintaining integrity and preserve the company’s reputation
Represent Roche and our scientific positions and portfolio among key external stakeholders including politicians, policy makers, scientific partnerships, media interactions, patient advocacy, other pharma companies (individual or association). It is understood that for selected key customers the CMD serves as the primary point of contact with the ambition to drive positive healthcare system changes and where feasible earlier adoption of our transformative medicines
Foster a high-performance medical team culture, ensuring continuous professional growth and alignment with Roche’s leadership framework.
Manage and oversee local Medical Affairs functions as well as Clinical Operations
Champion our transformative medicines, facilitating their timely adoption and integration into clinical practice
Oversee strategic evidence generation, value demonstration, and scientific data dissemination aligned with local market needs
Who you are:
Medical degree with significant clinical or pharmaceutical medical affairs experience is required
Strong background in senior medical leadership, with comprehensive insight into drug development, commercialization, and medical compliance
Proven ability to lead cross-functionally and strategically in complex environments
Expertise in digital health is a plus
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
Strong knowledge of local healthcare systems, regulatory and payer environments.
Forward-thinking mindset, innovative approach, and excellent command of German and English
We offer an annual salary starting from €120,000, complemented by an attractive benefits package.
