Corporate Communications, Strategic Planning and Campaigns Manager

Reports to: Group Head of Reputational Risk and Strategic Planning

Role Purpose

The Corporate Communications, Strategic Planning and Campaigns Manager sits in the Reputational Risk and Strategic Planning team and is responsible for leading and delivering integrated corporate communications, strategic planning, and campaign initiatives across the Corporate Affairs, Sustainability and Brand (CASB) function.

Reporting to the Group Head of Reputational Risk and Strategic Planning this role supports the delivery of the collective corporate affairs strategy by ensuring communications activities are aligned with the Group’s strategic objectives, supports proactive and reactive issues management, and enhances the organisation’s external profile through thought leadership and coordinated campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Coordination

  • Oversee and maintain the CASB’s central planning system, including monthly and quarterly planning meetings, ensuring a strategic and integrated approach to all communications workstreams.
  • Support the Group Head of Reputational Risk and Strategic Planning in planning and managing the CASB teams workstreams for the effective delivery of Group financial results and the Annual Report and Accounts cycle.
  • Ensure visibility and alignment of internal and external communications activities across CASB teams for the Group Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Director to communicate timely information to GEC members and the Group Board.

Corporate Communications

  • Manage and deliver significant corporate communications projects, ensuring all teams are aligned on delivery milestones and messaging.
  • Support external communications for the CEO and Chair, ensuring consistency with strategic messaging and Group priorities, including collaboration with relevant CASB teams on the production of written briefing.
  • Oversee the production of standardised reports and management information (MI) related to communications and campaigns.

Issues Management & Reputational Risk Management

  • Oversee issues management, including proactive risk identification and response planning. This includes effective monitoring of external sources including media, relevant third parties and industry commentary.  
  • Work closely with the Group Head to ensure reputational risks are considered and managed in all communications activities.
  • Support the escalation and resolution of reputational risk matters, including the production of briefings and coordinating and devising proactive and reactive planning responses.
  • Horizon scanning for long-term issues that require strategic communications planning.

Campaigns & Thought Leadership

  • Plan, organise, and coordinate integrated communication campaigns to enhance the organisation’s external profile.
  • Lead thought leadership initiatives, working with colleagues across CASB. This will include producing high-quality written communications materials.
  • Support CASB colleagues to develop and implement creative communications campaigns.
  • Provide strategic advice to manage campaign measurement.

Experience, Skills and Attributes

  • Significant experience in corporate communications, strategic planning, and campaign management within a financial services or international organisation.
  • Experience working in a listed environment and managing financial reporting communications.
  • Proven expertise in developing and delivering integrated communications and campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of reputational risk and issues management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Creative thinker with experience in thought leadership campaigns.
  • Ability to work autonomously, organise and prioritise effectively, and pay close attention to detail.
