Job Description

The Recreational Sports Facilities Coordinator, under general supervision, oversees the management and maintenance of the Recreational Sports Facilities: Fitness Center; Game Room; and Outdoor Recreation Spaces, which includes but is not limited to recruiting, hiring, training, assigning, monitoring, and evaluating personnel. Assist with various in service and risk management programs; conduct staff meetings; developing and administering schedules; recommend purchasing and inventory of equipment; and assisting with budget administration.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff.

  • Serve as the liaison for the scheduling of the facility and custodial staff.

  • Manages preventative maintenance and repair schedule of exercise equipment, spaces and outdoor areas.

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Recreational Sports Facilities.

  • Manage inventory of equipment and supplies, this includes purchasing for resupply.

  • Gather data for comprehensive mid-year and end of the year participation reports.

  • Assist with all departmental special events.

  • Participate in professional development at state, regional, and national levels.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Assist in the development of long-term goals for the Department of Recreational Sports

  • Assists with department, division and campus wide programs and initiatives such as ring ceremony, commencement, and orientation.

  • Develop programming alternatives and additional sources of revenue production.

  • Serves on divisional and university-wide committees.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field.

  • One (1) year of experience in recreational sports or related field. 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Currently has or is working towards receiving a Masters’ Degree in Recreational Administration, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sports Administration, or related field.  

  • Experience with membership-based software like DSE or Fusion.  

  • Experience working in a collegiate recreation setting.  

  • Experience working with websites and software packages (IM Leagues, Campus Labs, WhentoWork).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Effective management skills.

  • Ability to excel in a dynamic and challenging atmosphere.

Licensing / Certification / Professional Associations: First Aid and CPR/AED certified or able to obtain within 30 days of employment
